Asset network

Asset network refers to the decisions on how the company will configure the supply chain to meet business goals. These decisions are usually related to factories, warehouses, production equipments, order desks, etc. The location, size and mission of these assets have a major impact on supply chain performance. 

Understanding of current asset network capacity and operational capabUity is critical to identrfy potential gaps that could jeopardize sales growth and new product introductiOTi. 

In such diverse and sophisticated gas-using economies, security of supply and the efficient employment of producing assets depend upon an extensive network of pipelines that interconnect regions with diverse climates and diverse consumption patterns winter-peaking and summer-peaking demand that is climate-sensitive, business cycle-sensitive, and price-sensitive customers who place a high premium on continuity of supply, and those who are relatively insensitive to risk of interruption. What assets, departments, etc. are to be included within the proposed program This plays a major part in the decision to be reached on to what hardware and software is to be purchased. To support a system covering a number of areas and departments it will be necessary to consider network systems. Therefore, the computer maintenance system to be purchased must accommodate such arrangements. 

The ability of an ANN to learn is its greatest asset. When, as is usually the case, we cannot determine the connection weights by hand, the neural network can do the job itself. In an iterative process, the network is shown a sample pattern, such as the X, Y coordinates of a point, and uses the pattern to calculate its output it then compares its own output with the correct output for the sample pattern, and, unless its output is perfect, makes small adjustments to the connection weights to improve its performance. The training process is shown in Figure 2.13. 

As illustrated in fig. 27, products produced in a chemical production network are by default finished products, meaning they can be sold to customers instead of being used as intermediate products in the next production step. This principle leads to additional complexity since production demand for a product is composed of secondary demand caused by the subsequent production step as well as market demand or sales opportunities for this product. On the other hand, this also provides the opportunity to better utilize production assets by pushing excess production quantity to the market if the price is sufficiently attractive. 

A production location comprises one or multiple production plants where production resources are located. Production resources are single units or groups of production units aggregated to production lines or assets. Having the structure of chemical commodity value chain network as a network of chemical production processes in mind presented in fig. 34 (Al-Sharrah et al. 2001), production locations include respective resources and transportation lanes between production locations to model relations in chemical Verbund structures. 

The resolutions have introduced an incentive system for new investments destined to the development of the network and of the liquid natural gas (LNG) terminals. At the end of the first period of regulation, the increase in assets deriving from the new investments carried out during the first period will be considered part of the new RAB. The Authority will have the responsibility to ensure a fair yielding of the invested capital. The tariff system is therefore studied to reward efficiency and supports the development of investments. 

Apart from providing the chance to present or receive a presentation about a potential opportunity, these conferences and events are a mainstay of building an effective network of contacts throughout the industry. Attendees will be the source of information, rumour, introductions and camaraderie amongst the business development community in health-care which assists in the interchange of assets between companies, universities and their investors. 

Once more, distributors can benefit here from additional business and a higher degree of asset and personnel utilization. However, the major advantages for the chemical producers are less obvious outsourcing their business with smaller customers can allow them to save costs, reduce complexity, and achieve additional sales through their distributor s network and closer customer proximity (Fig. 12.3).

In order to execute a strategy, a company needs the right assets, capabilities, and networks, and no-one has all the requirements in-house. Identifying the gaps and understanding how best to fill them is not easy, and it is important to make partnerships work in practice.
