Anaphylactic reaction caused

In the IV route, anaphylactic reactions (caused by administration of an agent to an animal previously sensitized to it or to a particularly sensitive species such as a guinea pig) may be especially severe, probably because of sudden, massive antigen-antibody reactions. When the drug is given by other routes, its access to antibody molecules is necessarily slower moreover, its further absorption can be retarded or prevented at the first sign of a serious allergic reaction.

The transfusion of blood and blood products carries many risks, some of which are very serious. Haemolytic reactions caused by red cell antibodies, non-haemolytic febrile reactions due to white cell antibodies, urticaria, rare but extremely severe anaphylactic reactions caused by anti-IgA in patients lacking IgA, changes of pH and electrolytes resulting from storage lesions in stored bank blood, bacterial contamination, transmission of disease (in particular hepatitis, cytomegalic inclusion disease, mononucleosis infec-tiosa, syphilis, toxoplasmosis and malaria), circulatory overload and several other complications have been discussed in SED VIII and in many recent review articles. Infection with the virus of cytomegalic inclusion disease (CMV) occurs frequently. In most people it is a benign disease. Like other viral diseases, however, it should be feared in patients with an impaired cellular immunity (1, 2CR). 

Iron salts occasionally cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, headache, backache, and allergic reactions. The stools usually appear darker (black). Iron dextran is given by the parenteral route Hypersensitivity reactions, including fatal anaphylactic reactions, have been reported with the use of this form of iron. Additional adverse reactions include soreness, inflammation, and sterile abscesses at the intramuscular (IM) injection site Intravenous (IV) administration may result in phlebitis at the injection site When iron is administered via the IM route, a brownish discoloration of tlie skin may occur. Fhtients with rheumatoid arthritis may experience an acute exacerbation of joint pain, and swelling may occur when iron dextran is administered. 

HHMC can also be directly activated by agents injected intravenously for therapeutic (general anesthetics, protamine, etc.) or diagnostic purposes (radiocontrast media, etc.), which can cause non-IgE-mediated anaphylactic reactions in vitro [24,... 

Finally, it is worth mentioning that tryptase levels do not differentiate between immunologic and non-immimological mast cell activation and do not contribute to the identification of the cause of the anaphylactic reaction. To date, very few mediators [10] apart from histamine and tryptase have been investigated as markers for anaphylaxis. Recent studies also include other mediators that we will only examine briefly. A more extensive review can be found elsewhere [2,11]. 

The p-lactams (penicillins and their derivatives) are the drugs which most frequently cause IgE-mediated anaphylactic reactions. Diagnosis is based on skin tests. To date, the best vaUdated in vitro diagnostic methods are specific IgE and BAT. As for the determination of specific IgE using ImmimoCap (Phadia AB, Uppsala, Sweden), the sensitivity of the technique in the diagnosis of immediate reaction to (3-lactams with positive skin test ranges, according to the study, from 37 to 54% with a specificity of between 83 and 100% [23,24].

There are only two absolute contraindications to pertussis administration an immediate anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose or encephalopathy within 7 days of a previous dose, with no evidence of other cause. 

There is a large class of compounds that are capable of releasing histamine. They can be enzymes, toxins, morphine, d-tubocurarine, and polymers such as dextran. Moreover, tissue damage such as trauma, bites, and stress can also cause a release of histamine, and in all probability as a result, an endogenous polypeptide bradykinin is released. Action of all of these listed substances as well as a number of others can facilitate formation of anaphylactic reactions in the organism. 

This drag lessens the allergic response of the organism caused by histamine. Tripelennamine is used for allergic symptoms, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and for allergic and anaphylactic reactions. Synonyms of this drug are pelanin and pyribenzamine. 

Allergic reactions (eg, bronchospasm, urticaria, pruritus, angioneurotic edema, or swelling of the lips, eyelids, tongue, and nasal mucosa) due to anaphylactic shock caused by stinging insects (primarily of the order Hymenoptera, that includes bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, bumble... 

Brompheniramine VaZol also is indicated for the temporary relief of runny nose and sneezing caused by the common cold treatment of allergic and nonallergic pruritic symptoms temporary relief of mild, uncomplicated urticaria and angioedema amelioration of allergic reactions to blood or plasma adjunctive therapy in anaphylactic reactions. 

Hypersensitivity reactions A few patients receiving the injection have experienced anaphylactic reactions. Although the exact cause of these reactions is not known, other drugs with castor oil derivatives in the formulation have been associated with anaphylaxis in a small percentage of patients. 

Some patients who have had an anaphylactic reaction wear a medical alert bracelet or necklace with an inscription endorsed by a doctor that alerts other doctors to the possible cause of any future reaction. 

Histamine is able to cause uterine contraction. Although the magnitude of this effect in humans is normally small, the large amounts of histamine released during anaphylactic reactions can initiate abortion in pregnant women. Histamine can also stimulate contraction of gastrointestinal smooth muscle, with large doses able to produce diarrhea.
