Ammonia sulfate

In view of this situation we studied a number of samples of Mn02 with different composition and various OH" contents in order to estimate the correlation between the activity of Mn02 and concentration of OH" ions. This compound can be electrochemically deposited on the anode from various aqueous solutions, but electrolytes with sulfate and ammonia sulfate have found widest application [3], It has been determined that the composition and structural parameters of the end-product are governed by the presence of fluoride ion in electrolyte. [Pg.488]

A small amount of solid may be dissolved in water and ammonium ion determined by the ion-selective electrode method, or miscellaneous colorimetric or titrimetric procedures (see Ammonia). Sulfate ion maybe determined by ion chromatography. [Pg.45]

The complexity and speed of these reactions is governed by many factors, including the biofilm makeup, pH, water velocity, temperature, and the local concentration of oxygen, ammonia, sulfates, sulfides, nitrogen, and total organic carbon (TOC). [Pg.103]

The hatch grate of the first section of tank 20 is loaded with superphosphate the spraying device is filled with water. Undissolved superphosphate and the solution flow into the first section. It is filled with water (to half of the space) and air (through a bubbler) to agitate the solution and dissolve the rest of the superphosphate. Then the solution is settled. The clarified solution is pumped into the second section of tank 20. The hatch grate of the second section is loaded with ammonia sulfate the spraying device is filled with water. [Pg.364]

The concentrated solution is poured into the tank of the second section, which is also filled with water (up to the top container). The solution of ammonia sulfate and superphosphate prepared thus... [Pg.364]

Consider the following prices in /kg propylene (0.7), ammonia (0.2), acrylonitrile (1.8), hydrogen cyanide (1.5), acetonitrile (1.3), ammonia sulfate (0.15). Environmental fees are estimated as emissions (0.001), wastewater per kg organic loading (0.5), acid water per kg acid (0.05), incineration organics/water (0.6), incineration organic solids (1.2) and landfill (0.20). In addition, consider a C02 penalty of 0.10 /kg. [Pg.38]

In the metal refining of ores, the metal is solubilized in an aqueous solution. The optical control of metal refining requires quick, accurate analysis of the major chemical species present in solution. Raman spectroscopy and resonance Raman are used to identify the amine complexes of Co, Ni, and Cu species, as well as ammonia sulfate and sulfamate, present in these industrial solutions. The Raman spectra of an industrial plant solution from mine tailings are shown in Fig. 7-15. Each solution contains one or more metal species, sulfate, sulfamate, ammonia, ammonium sulfate, and water. From a comparison with model ammine complexes, the vibrations in the spectra are identifiable. Bands were observed at 615, 980 and 1,110 cm-1 and were assigned to the sulfate ion. No bands were observed for free ammonia. A band at 376 cm-1 was assigned to the Ni(NH3)j + specie. A band at 490 cm-1 was assigned to the Co(NH3)g+ specie. [Pg.339]

Precipitin bands observed when holo-RNA poiymerase (complete enzyme including the cr subunit) immune serum is allowed to diffuse toward wells containing RNA polymerase at various stages of purity. The wells contained protein samples derived from the following purification steps (A) crude extract, (B) 33 to 42% ammonia sulfate fractionation, (C) DEAE cellulose eluent, (D) RNA polymerase following sedimentation in a glycerol gradient, and ( ) phosphocellulose eluent which contained only core enzyme devoid of o- subunit. The final well (F) was empty. The purification procedures used here were similar to those reported by R. R. Burgess, /. Biol. Chem., 244 6160 (1969). This photograph was taken after 12 days of incubation at 4°C. Figure 8-23. Water sample collection procedures used in this study are outlined by Koterba et al. (1995). Field measurements included temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, specific conductance, redox potential, alkalinity, and field tests for total and ferrous iron, nitrate, ammonia, sulfate, sulfide, turbidity, and phosphate (Haack and Trecanni, 2000). Samples collected for trace-element analysis were filtered to pass 0.45 pm. Samples for arsenic analysis included sub-samples for total and filtered arsenic, arsenate, and arsenite (Kim, 1999). [Pg.284]

Based on these observations, we can define two regimes of interest, ammonia-rich and ammonia-poor. If [TA], [TS], and [TNI are the total (gas + aqueous + solid) molar concentrations of ammonia, sulfate, and nitrate, respectively, then the two cases are... [Pg.479]

Reconstruction of the Japanese chemical industry began with the chemical fertilizer (ammonia sulfate) industry, with the government supporting the basic chemical industries such as ammonia, carbide, and sulfuric acid. During the establishment of these basic industries, chemical engineering unit operations provided the technical basis for this industrialization. [Pg.280]

VERMEULEN Indeed I did, but as you will read in my paper, just in a single case. I looked for a correlation between protons, ammonia, sulfate and nitrate in rain water and found some in a small number of cases. I think the composition of precipitation is too complex to find good correlations between protons and one or more of the minerals present. The level of major compounds in precipitation over The Netherlands is very high, and one component (for example SO4) has different origins, which makes finding a good correlation with the proton content very difficult. [Pg.55]

At a typical water treatment plant, the dominant chloramine species will be monochloramines. Chloramine generating reactions are 99% complete within a few minutes. Chloramines are a weak disinfectant that are less effective against virases or protozoa than free chlorine but produce fewer disinfection by-products. The use of chloramines as a DBF control strategy is well estabhshed in the United States. Chloramines ate generated onsite at the treatment plant. Anhydrous ammonia and ammonia sulfate ate examples of armnonia containing chemicals used by water systems to form chloramines. In most situations in the Urrited States, chloramines are used as a secondary disinfectant to maintain a residual in the distribution system. [Pg.11]

If ammonia sulfate is accidentally released, ventilate the area of leak or spill and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. If spilled, sweep up and containerize for reclamation or disposal. Vacuuming or wet sweeping may be used to avoid dust dispersal. [Pg.35]
