Supplements, amino acid

Cottonseed, peanut, sesame seed, and soybean flours, when used as supplements, add to the quality of the protein. The improvement of protein quality was due to the flours compensating for limiting amino acids. Supplementation using various flours improved total protein, amino acid content and some physical characteristics in akamu, yeast bread and sugar cookies. [Pg.71]

Yamada, et al. (34) have studied the vitamin Bg biosynthesis of a pdx B mutant, Escherichia coli B WG3, in amino acid - supplemented medium. An amino acid mixture and glycolaledhyde, which satisfy the vitamin Bg requirement of E. Coli B WG 3, a pdx B mutant, have been examined for their effect on growth of the mutant in liquid culture. [Pg.462]

The amount of Bg synthesized by the mutant in the amino acid - supplemented medium is lower than the amount synthesized in the glycolaldehyde - supplemented medium. [Pg.462]

The investigations indicated that the productivity in complex media is much higher than in synthetic and semi synthetic media. With 100 g I1 PF, the product concentration in the stirred tank was twice as high as with 30 g I1 PF and three times as high as one without PF. With another medium, the CPC concentration was twice as high with CSL than without it. The maximum CPC concentration was obtained with CSL and amino acid supplement. The medium compositions for optimal CPC concentration, CPC yield coefficient and CPC space time yield are different. ACVS is the bottleneck in the biosynthesis in the first phase of the cultivation. After 100 h, the expandase/hydroxylase becomes the bottleneck. In this phase, DAC and PEN concentrations considerably increase, but the CPC concentration varies only slightly. By the suppression of the PEN formation the production of DAOC, which impairs the purification of CPC, is reduced as well. [Pg.130]

After incubation, the cells are plated with 9 ml of soft top agar onto minimal selection plates (the agar and plates both containing 1 M sorbitol, 8% glucose, and amino acid supplement lacking leucine). [Pg.582]

During the two randomly arranged experimental periods of seven days each, the subjects received the experimental diets alone or with a 200 mg/subject/day amino acid supplement. A total of 57 subjects participated in the studies in which the only manganese supplied was by the basal diet (4.91-4.95 mg/subject/day). [Pg.143]

In 1998, the total animal health market was worth just over 15 billion. Nutritionals, i.e. vitamins, amino-acid supplements, enzymes etc. and vaccines account for 6.3 billion worth of sales, so pharmaceutical type products, the subject of this review, comprise about 60% of the whole (Figure 1). [Pg.45]

Maple syrup urine disease is a rare genetic disorder affecting the metabohsm of leucine, isoleucine and valine. Accumulation of these branched-chain amino acids results in severe neurological damage and death. The aim of dietary management is to prevent the accumulation of these amino acids, by the use of a low-protein diet and leucine-, isoleucine-and vahne-free amino acid preparations. Natural protein supplies the necessary leucine, isoleucine and valine, based on a leucine exchange system with additional isoleucine and/ or valine available as single amino acid supplements. [Pg.395]
