Field Studies in Forest Streams. Insecticide treatments The fate and persistence of fenitrothion and aminocarb were studied in 1982 in small headwater trout streams within the Nipisiguit River watershed near Popple Depot, New Brunswick. Three study streams were treated with different insecticide tank mixes, receiving two applications at a 6 to 8 day interval sprayed by Agcat or Agtruck aircraft equipped with Micronair spray emission systems. Each stream later received a point source injection by hand-held sprayer of the same insecticide tank mix which had been previously applied to it from the air. [Pg.256]

In 1983, Hennessey acquired Bendix, a long-established producer of automotive and aircraft equipment, but did so in a completely unplanned manner. The details of his move are complex, but do provide an example of the bizarre world of the creation of conglomerates in the 1980s. The CEO of Bendix, William Agee, was attempting to take over Martin Marietta, a major... [Pg.79]

A great deal of work has been done and is still carried out on the development of environmental tests especially for coatings on glass and plastics for example, US Military specifications, United Kingdom specifications for aircraft equipment, British Standard Institute specifications, German DIN specification, etc. This has already resulted in a number of specifications which are equivalent to the most severe conditions ever likely to be met in both tropical and polar climates. The most often used test specifications are summarized in Table 8a. [Pg.391]

There were several dysfunctional interactions and communication inadequacies among the correctly operating aircraft equipment. The most obvious unsafe interaction was the release of two missiles in the direction of two friendly aircraft, but there were also four obstacles to the type of fighter-helicopter communications that might have prevented that release. [Pg.124]

Several studies [LBST] confirmed already that a new aircraft equipped with such a system on the market could be from the beginning supplied with H2 by the current volume of hydrogen production. Only the infrastructure must be adapted. Only after two to 4 years and after a production ramp up an adjustment is necessary. Studies carried out jointly with relevant airports have shown that storage of hydrogen is not a difficulty. Hydrocarbon and hydrogen are to be evaluated with respect to the safety mles-mles for storage purposes similar. [Pg.123]

ABSTRACT Noise exposure can cause undesirable effects on both health and safety. In agricultural aviation, noise exposure is one of many factors that can affect operation safety. The aim of this study is to measure noise dose during the most common work situations. The identified noise dose levels appear far above the recommended limits, even for modern aircraft equipped with closed cockpits and air conditioning systems. These results showed that additional measures are necessary, both in noise reduction and regulation of working time. Besides, the proper use of personal protective equipment, including their regular inspection can be an important short-term measure. [Pg.105]

The SYMBAD s structure can be easily adjusted depending on the type of test equipment, eg. for unmanned air systems, helicopters and combat aircrafts. Moreover, programme modification can include type of research being conducted for a new-designed and -developed aircraft as well as for an upgraded one, for those in production, and for the aircraft equipment/systems built in the aircraft. [Pg.1811]

Apphcation of Wide Area Multilateration (WAM) enables location of the position of aircraft equipped with Mode A/C/S transponders with no need to install new avionics aboard. This configuration is used for control and surveillance of aircraft in Terminal Management Areas and En-route for the need of Air Traffic Control. In comparison with radar, the WAM provides higher accuracy, better coverage of the area and improved operational reliability at lower operational costs. [Pg.252]

The future is conditioned by the University. As long as the university confines itself to relishing the fruits of the past, satellites and aircraft equipped with sophisticated instrumentation will be nothing but costly playthings, prestigious - but useless. [Pg.137]

Increasingly the procurement of aircraft, equipment and systems for the aeronautical industry is by means of collaborative projects. The arrangements for such projects are negotiated both between the Governments of the participating nations (via a Memorandum of Understanding), and the contractors of the participating countries. [Pg.210]

Engineering Uses High temperature uses flue pipes, automotive, electronic, aircraft equipment and interiors, connectors, printed circuit boards, switches, controls, co-extruded with polycarbonate. [Pg.27]
