Vinylidene fluoride copolymers

Silastic LS 420, possessing approximately Q.6%-0.9% pendant vinyl groups, was blended with Kynar 7201, a vinylidene fluoride copolymer with tetrafluoroethylene (Atochem), in the presence of triallylisocyanurate (TAIC) and DAP containing a small amount of benzoyl peroxide in the DAP fraction. [Pg.334]

Effects of additives in the matrix were observed by substituting for methyl methacrylate a poly (methyl methacrylate) homopolymer with a solution molecular weight of 950,000, a vinylidene fluoride copolymer (Pennwalt s Kynar 7201), and a methacrylate-butadiene-styrene impact modifier (Marbon s Blendex BTA IIIN). Concentrations were 2% on the total dispersion volume. The same additives were studied at the same volume concentration in the dispersed phase. Barium sulfate (Whittaker, Clark, and Daniels Barytes No. 91), a commonly used additive for radiopacity, was also studied in the dispersed phase. Responses were observed by the test methods described below. [Pg.296]

Teblina et al. [26] studied the kinetics of radical polymerization of metha-crylic acid in the presence of a hexafluoropropene-vinylidene fluoride copolymer. The polymerization rate increased with conversion. A grafted copolymer was formed by a reaction analogous to eqn. (40) (with F instead of... [Pg.453]

Unique applications employ both types of spectroscopies for structural analysis. The complementary nature of infrared and Raman effects can be seen in the structure determination of 1 1 hexafluoroisobutylene and vinylidene fluoride copolymer. This problem is virtually impossible to solve with other techniques. The two monomers can be linked in two ways during polymerization, by formation of head-to-tail (normal linking) or head-to-head linkages. By comparing infrared and Raman spectroscopic data, it was concluded that the polymers formed are indeed alternating in nature (66). It was additionally concluded that only head-to-tail linkages were observed. The proposed chemical structure is shown below. [Pg.8774]

Acetone-soluble fluorocarbon plastics were selected for use in the granulating procedure. These plastics form a film (when dried) which is stable against the corrosive medium, e.g. lithium chloride or brines.
