Vessels and containers

Types of damage can be classified as uniform or localized metal removal, corrosion cracking or detrimental effects to the environment from the corrosion products. Local attack can take the form of shallow pits, pitting, selective dissolution of small microstructure regions of the material or cracking. Detrimental effects are certainly not the case with buried pipelines, but have to be considered for environments in vessels and containers. It is usual, where different results of reactions lead... [Pg.27]

A validated cleaning procedure must be in place to ensure reaction vessels and containers do not carry contaminants. [Pg.324]

The contents of all vessels and containers used in manufacturing and storage between manufacturing stages are identihed by clearly legible labels having all the required information. [Pg.142]

Fertilization experiments were made in Mitscherlich culture vessels and contained about 23 kg of sand and peat compost. There were two plants per pot and they were watered so that water and dissolved... [Pg.13]

A low vertical cylinder closed off with a rubber stopper serves as the electrolysis vessel and contains the sulfate solution. The anode is a piece of Pt sheet immersed in a clay cell filled with 20% H3SO4. The cell is partially immersed in the Ti (TV) sulfate solution and is surrounded by four amalgamated lead strips, also immersed in the solution. The stopper on the outer electrolysis vessel has holes for the clay cell and for the inlet and outlet gas tubes. The electrolysis is carried out in a constant stream of COg and with efficient water cooling. The current density is 0.06 amp./cm. at 24 v. for the first six hours, then 0.33 amp./cm. at the same voltage for an additional six hours. This reduces all the Ti (IV) sulfate to Ti (III) sulfate the latter precipitates as an H3804-containing hydrate (fine, pale light violet crystals). [Pg.1227]

Table 4 shows the results of the seismic margin evaluations and the seismic capacity of KALIMER reactor internal structures including the reactor vessel and containment vessel. From the results, the containment vessel, reactor vessel, inlet plenum, and core support have large seismic stress margins but the reactor vessel liner, support barrel, separation plate, and baffle plate have small margins. The maximum stress occurs in reactor vessel liner parts coimected with the separation plate due to the vertical seismic loads. [Pg.211]

The ideal-gas equation of state, PV = NRT, applies to certain pure gases and their mixtures. Consider such a mixture confined in a closed, rigid vessel, and containing Nj moles of each component i. Determine the expression that would allow you to compute how the pressure would change when a small amount of pure substance i is added to the mixture at fixed temperature that is, find the expression for the following partial derivative. [Pg.31]

The fat phase and water phase are prepared in separate premix vessels and contain the fat-soluble and water-soluble ingredients respectively. They are then accurately dosed by means of a proportioning pump after which the mass is pumped to an A-unit through a common tube where some mixing takes place. More sophisticated dosing systems can also proportion the ingredients separately. On the other hand, the whole composition can be prepared in one premix tank. Then, only a simple dosing pump is required. [Pg.222]

Selecting Sorption for Spill Treatment. Spills can occur during transportation, storage, and chemical processing. They may result from transport accidents, such as collisions, from storage vessels and containers, due to poor maintenance/operator error, or due to fire or... [Pg.338]

For weighing out ingredients, a range of paper sheets, vessels and containers, spatulas and spoons are available. AU receivers must be clean, dry and inert. The total weight of the receiver plus the substance to be weighed must not exceed the maximum capacity of the balance. If the repeatability and hence the M ,in has been determined (see Sect. 29.1.5.2) with the usual, probably large, receivers (as is recommended), small quantities can be weighed from if necessary also in those receivers. [Pg.660]

Under accident conditions, the Automatic Depressurization System (ADS) depressurizes the reactor vessel, and equalizes the reactor vessel and containment vessel pressure. Feedwater flow to the steam generator is secured and a new heat transport path is established. The coolant in the core reaches sub-cooled boiling conditions and produces a steam filled region in the upper portion of the reactor vessel. The steam is vented to the containment via the upper ADS vent lines. Once in the containment, the steam condenses on the walls of the containment vessel and pools at the bottom of the containment. This pooled fluid enters the reactor vessel either by sump recirculation lines or the submerged ADS lines, completing the flow path. A simple schematic of the accident condition heat transport system is shown in Fig. I-15(b). [Pg.150]

In DEM simulations, to model the vessels and containers that particles exist in, simple geometries such as cuboid boxes, 2D rectangular polygons, and cylindrical shapes are usually defined by their equations. This way, the contact detection (particle-geometry) is very efficient. For example, for a 2D polygonal plane parallel to z-plane that is separated... [Pg.263]

Biopsy specimens from 17 mandibular fracture sites treated by open reduction with titanium in 12 patients showed doublelayered connective tissue, which consisted of dense fibrous connective tissue and relatively loose connective tissue containing proliferated blood vessels with hypertrophied endothelial cells [78 ]. The vascular endothelial cells expressed HLA-DR, CD54, and CD62P antigens in some cases they were CD62E-positive. CD68-positive, and CDllc-positive round or spindle-shaped macrophages had infiltrated around the small vessels and contained fine cytoplasmic titanium particles. In some cases CD4- - and CD8-y T lymphocytes had infiltrated around venules. [Pg.457]

Grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations performed for natural gas adsorbed on carbon have demonstrated that the optimum pore size is 0.76 nm, as mentioned earlier (methane adsorption (capillary condensation) does not takes place at room temperature) thus, a further increase of the slit width would lower the particle density without a significant increase in amounts adsorbed. These calculations predict that the theoretical maximum methane storage capacity of carbon at 3.5 MPa is 209 VA for a monolithic carbon that fills the vessel and contains a minimum amount of macropore volume and no external... [Pg.422]

The IRIS design also includes a second means of core cooling via containment cooling, since the vessel and containment become thermodynamically coupled once a break occurs. Should cooling via the EHRS be defeated, direct cooling of the containment outer surface is provided and containment pressurization is limited to less than its design pressure. This... [Pg.66]

During this phase of the accident recovery, gravity makeup of borated water from both suppression pool and RV cavity is available as required. Since decay heat is directly removed from within the vessel and the vessel and containment are thermodynamically coupled, the long term break flow does not correspond to the core decay heat, but it is in fact limited to only the containment heat loss. [Pg.68]
