Saez-Bastante, J., Pinzi, S., et al., 2014a. Influence of vegetable oil fatty acid composition on ultrasound-assisted synthesis of biodiesel. Euel 125, 183—191. [Pg.116]

Standard canola oil, mainly because of its fatty acid composition, is relatively well suited for biodiesel production. Harrington (145), and Knothe et al. (146) discussed desired properties of fatty acid ester structure for biodiesel. Knothe et al. (146) also discussed biodiesel standards in different countries, for those interested. Briefly, the desired properties of vegetable oil fatty acids for methyl ester biodiesel can be summarized as follows ... [Pg.752]

Cottonseed Oil Fatty Acid Composition. The specific fatty acid profile of the triglycerides in cottonseed is dependent on the variety of cotton grown, growing conditions such as temperature and rainfall, and the analytical method used to determine the profile. Table 5 summarizes the fatty acid composition observations of several research and commercial groups. Cottonseed oil is typical of the oleic-linoleic group of vegetable oils, because those two fatty acids comprise almost 75% of the total fatty acids. Although oleic acid makes up 22% and linoleic makes up 52%, less than 1 % linolenic acid is present. Palmitic fatty acid makes up about 24% of the fatty acids. Minor amounts of other saturated fatty acids are also found. [Pg.831]

Fatty Acid Compositions of Tallows and Fish and Oilseeds Oils. Fatty acid compositions of tallows and fish and vegetable oils used as feed ingredients are shown in Table 8 (11). Profiles for pahn oils are not shown they typically are chill crystallized and fractionated into oleins and stearins and can vary greatly in fatty acid compositions. The principal fatty acids of major marine oils are shown in Table 9 (39). [Pg.2310]

Polyamides. Polyamides are one of the largest volume epoxy curing agents used. They are prepared by the reaction of dimerized and trimerized vegetable-oil fatty acids with polyamines. Dimer acid is made by a Diels-Alder reaction between 9,12- and 9,11-linoleic acids. Subsequent reaction with diethylenetriamine or other suitable multifunctional amines 5uelds the amine-terminated polyamides. They are available in a range of molecular weights and compositions. [Pg.2706]

Com oil s flavor, color, stabiHty, retained clarity at refrigerator temperatures, polyunsaturated fatty acid composition, and vitamin E content make it a premium vegetable oil. The major uses are frying or salad appHcations (50%) and margarine formulations (35%). [Pg.360]

Biologically degradable rubbers can be produced from relatively cheap renewable resources such as vegetable oils and fatty acids. Due to the abundance in fatty acid compositions, many different biorubbers can be manufactured, having their own specific properties. Based on these types of rubber, several commercially interesting applications, e.g. consumables, are now being developed. [Pg.283]

Kapseu, C. and Parmentier, M. (1997) Fatty acid composition of some vegetable oils from Cameroon. Sri. Aliment., 17, 325-331. [Pg.22]

The fats and oils standards aim to provide protection in terms of authenticity of the products covered and contain descriptions of each. They also recognize that the fatty acid composition is one of the main ways of identifying and distinguishing one oil/fat from another. Fatty acid specifications for each oil/fat are included as essential composition and quality factors and are reproduced in Tables 8.6 and 8.7. For vegetable oils, it is also recognized that other compositional factors may be used to assist in assessing authenticity—iodine... [Pg.195]

Fatty Acid Composition by GLC (Ce lc-89) measures the fatty acid composition and levels of trans unsaturation and cis, cis methylene-interrupted unsaturation of vegetable oils using capillary gas liquid chromatography. [Pg.1648]

Identification Menhaden Oil can be differentiated from animal fats and vegetable oils by the distinctive significant amount of long-chain C20 and C22 fatty acids. Partially Hydrogenated Menhaden Oil exhibits the following typical composition profile of fatty acids, determined as directed under Fatty Acid Composition, Appendix VII ... [Pg.281]

The vegetable oils and fats can be divided into three groups on the basis of fatty acid composition. The first group comprises oils containing mainly fatty acids with 16 or 18... [Pg.49]
