Table 9.7 summarizes the comparison of SEC column performance with regard to particle size of the packing material. The author tried to create this table using the test results of different manufacturers of styrene-divinyl-benzene columns. [Pg.279]

Using the test results, draw conclusions as to the validity of the theory... [Pg.368]

The measurements show that a tank crew would not have been hurt if hearing protectors were used. The test results indicate that a massive overkill of the structure took place, indicating the desired effect could be produced with less fuel sprayed. ... [Pg.162]

Consider a parallel-plate electrostatic precipitator across which a 10 kV potential is applied. The interplate spacing is 1 cm. The particle density is 2,000 kg/m3. The total surface area is 10 m2, and the flow rate is 0.5 m3/s. Use the test results provided in Table P7.2 to estimate... [Pg.332]

Tests are no available that measure 1,1-dichloroethane in urine, blood, breath and body tissues. Because urine, blood, and breath samples are easily obtained, these samples are examined to determine if a person has been exposed to 1,1-dichloroethane. These tests are not routinely available at a doctor s office and would require special equipment for sampling and detection of the compound. Since most of the 1,1-dichloroethane that is taken into the body leaves within two days, these tests must be done soon after exposure occurs. Although these tests can confirm that a person has been exposed to 1,1-dichloroethane, it is not yet possible to use the test results to predict the type or severity of any health effects that might occur or the level of exposure that may have occurred. Because exposure to 1,1-dichloroethane at hazardous waste sites is likely to include exposure to other similar chemicals at the same time, levels of 1,1-dichloroethane measured through these types of medical tests may not reflect exposure to 1,1-dichloroethane alone. Information regarding tests for the detection of 1,1-dichloroethane in the body is presented in Chapters 2 and 6. [Pg.12]

There could be numerous uses for the recovered carbon black for rubber goods such as vehicle tires, footwear, rubber sheets, conveyer belts, dockfenders, etc. Some samples of rubber goods such as bicycle tires and safety shoes have been made with the recovered carbon black and their durability has been tested in comparison with commercial ones. At least in short term tests, for example, three months, the safety shoes made with the recovered carbon black showed higher abrasion resistance than the commercial shoes in which HAF-LS carbon black was used. The test results are shown in Table IV (6). [Pg.547]

As with the CWA and the SDWA, the USEPA s decision to register a pesticide is based in part on a risk assessment, using the test results supplied by the manufacturer, of adverse effects on human health and the environment. Registration therefore attempts to ensure that pesticides will be labeled properly and, if used in accordance with specifications, will not cause unreasonable harm to the environment. [Pg.307]

Rationale The sponsor is using the test results to support scientific arguments pertaining to the selection of drug dosing (see Fig. 2.6). [Pg.76]

Rationale The sponsor will use the test results in the drug label (see Fig. 2.7). [Pg.76]

Detailed failure analysis of failed samples is a crucial step in the qualification and validation program. Without such analysis and feedback to designers for corrective action, the purpose of the qualification program is defeated. In other words, it is not adequate simply to collect failure data. The key is to use the test results to provide insights into, and consequent control over, relevant failure mechanisms and ways to prevent them, cost effectively. [Pg.2288]

Other soil fractions (i.e. other than clay minerals) also show capabilities for retention of heavy metals and other types of contaminant. The information given in Fig. 4 uses the test results obtained previously by Yong Pha-dungchewit (1993) regarding partitioning of Pb by an illitic soil over a pH range from 2 to 7. [Pg.8]

The convenience of the offered monitoring system consists in an opportunity fast adjustment in conditions of many nomenclature manufacture, reception of the protocol of the testing results, opportunity of use of the unskilled personnel. By an offered principle installations for the testing of welding by explosion of cases of plunger pumps, details of air engineering and other were developed. [Pg.885]

Preferably the transferring lab provides a sample which has already been analyzed, with the certainty of the results being known (41). This can be either a reference sample or a sample spiked to simulate the analyte. An alternative approach is to compare the test results with those made using a technique of known accuracy. Measurements of the sample are made at the extremes of the method as well as the midpoint. The cause of any observed bias, the statistical difference between the known sample value and the measured value, should be determined and eliminated (42). When properly transferred, the method allows for statistical comparison of the results between the labs to confirm the success of the transfer. [Pg.369]

The results processor computes the test results from the raw data furnished by the AP and coUates these results together with the demographic patient data into test reports. Test results falling outside normal limits are flagged on the report to speed up the diagnosis process. These data managers can also store thousands of patient reports in their current memory. Some of the more sophisticated systems also store the actual reaction curves used to determine the test results. [Pg.398]

For reasons of expedieney and eeonomies, alternative instrumentation and proeedures are eonsidered and frequently used. Sueh alternatives affeet the aeeuraey of the test results. The magnitudes... [Pg.322]

An oil sample should be withdrawn from the system and analyzed in the laboratory. The usual tests of the used oil include (1) viscosity, (2) pH and neutralization number, and (3) precipitation. The test results will... [Pg.549]

The results for the chemical potential determination are collected in Table 1 [172]. The nonreactive parts of the system contain a single-component hard-sphere fluid and the excess chemical potential is evaluated by using the test particle method. Evidently, the quantity should agree well with the value from the Carnahan-Starling equation of state [113]... [Pg.234]

Bjorklnnd et al. (1982) report experimental results on the evalnation of a single 30-mesh gauze screen and a dual 20-mesh gauze screen flame arresters using propane-air and ethylene-air mixtures. The test results are as follows ... [Pg.84]

They are very useful not only for testing. They are being used in practical commercial cells. Figure 9 shows electrode preparation with TAB. Figures 10, 11 and 12 show the test results for a Mn02 sample (IC No. 17) in 9 mol L"1 KOH and 25% ZnCl2 (+5% NH4C1) solutions. [Pg.120]

As reviewed throughout this book one must determine what measures were taken to evaluate the materials. Carefully study the test results and test methods that are employed in obtaining these properties and their interpretation for application purposes (Chapter 5), and finally determine the fine details of use conditions to establish the suitability of a plastic material for the intended product. It is easily accomplished to determine the plastic to be used but requires familiarity with the test results being evaluated and behavior of plastics to meet your performance requirements. [Pg.23]

This test has possible advantages over the notched Izod test. The notch sensitivity factor is eliminated, and energy is not used in pushing aside the broken portion of the specimen. The test results are recorded in ft-lb/in.2 (kJ/m2). This allows for minor variations in dimensions of the minimum in cross-section area. [Pg.312]
