Usability specification

During and after the build process ISO 62366 then requires the user interface to be tested and verified against the usability specification. Where the prodnct fails to meet the usability requirements this may act as the seed for a change in the design. This forms the basis of an iterative usability cycle where the product or a prototype is subject to constant verification by individuals who are representative of the intended user-base. [Pg.57]

The limit of tolerable error is generally smallest in a minor component assay. It will have been determined that a particular minor component must be at or below a threshold concentration for the product to be usable. Therefore, the decision to accept or reject an entire production batch may depend on the analytical result. Typical batches may contain the contaminant at a concentration very similar to the specification limit. In a minor component assay, the major component may be overloaded and out of the proper range of detection of the assay. Also indices such as the Dow Fire and Explosion Hazard Index and the Mond Index have been suggested to measure the degree of inherent SHE of a process. Rushton et al. (1994) pointed out that these indices can be used for the assessment of existing plants or at the detailed design stages. They require detailed plant specifications such as the plot plan, equipment sizes, material inventories and flows. Checklists, interaction matrices, Hazop and other hazard identification tools are also usable for the evaluation, because all hazards must be identified and their potential consequences must be understood. E.g. Hazop can be used in different stages of process design but in restricted mode. A complete Hazop-study requires final process plans with flow sheets and PIDs. [Pg.39]
