The programs DRFLA for vapor-liquid and DRELI for liquid-liquid calculations are written in FORTRAN IV source language for the CDC 6400 of the Computer Center, University of California, Berkeley. Minor modifications, mostly with regard to input and output, will be required for implementation on most other computer systems. [Pg.347]

In 1969 Ghiorso, Nurmia, Harris, K.A.Y. Eskola, and P.E. Eskola of the University of California at Berkeley reported that they had positively identified two, and possibly three, isotopes of Element 104. The group indicated that, after repeated attempts, they produced isotope 260-104 reported by the Dubna groups in 1964. [Pg.158]

University of California, San Francisco. The original AMBER has become one of the more widely used academic force fields and extensive work has gone into developing it — resulting in a number of versions of the method and associated parameters. Hyper-Chem gives results equivalent to Versions 2.0 and 3.0a of the AMBERprogram distributed by the Kollman group and parameter sets for both these versions are distributed with HyperChem. [Pg.189]

Precipitators are currently used for high collection efficiency on fine particles. The use of electric discharge to suppress smoke was suggested in 1828. The principle was rediscovered in 1850, and independently in 1886 and attempts were made to apply it commercially at the Dee Bank Lead Works in Great Britain. The installation was not considered a success, probably because of the cmde electrostatic generators of the day. No further developments occurred until 1906 when Frederick Gardiner Cottrell at the University of California revived interest (U.S. Pat. 895,729) in 1908. The first practical demonstration of a Cottrell precipitator occurred in a contact sulfuric acid plant at the Du Pont Hercules Works, Pinole, California, about 1907. A second installation was made at Vallejo Junction, California, for the Selby Smelting and Lead Company. [Pg.397]
