Types of Fit Tests

Specific make, model, style, and size of respirator tested [Pg.401]

The pass/fail results for the QLFT or fit tests factor and strip chart recording or other recording of the test results for QNFT [Pg.401]

Additional fit tests must be conducted whenever the employee reports, or the company, physician, supervisor, or program administrator makes visual observations of, changes in an employee s physical condition that could affect respirator fit. Such conditions include, but are not limited to, facial scarring, dental changes, cosmetic surgery, or an obvious change in body weight. [Pg.401]

If after passing a QLFT or QNFT the employee notifies the company, program administrator, supervisor, or physician that the fit of the respirator is unacceptable, the employee shall be given a reasonable opportunity to select a different respirator face piece and to be retested. [Pg.401]

Any modifications to the respirator face piece for fit testing must be completely removed, and the face piece restored to NIOSH approved configuration, before that face piece can be used in the workplace. Fit test records shall be retained for respirator users until the next fit test is administered. Written materials required to be retained must be made available upon request to affected employees. [Pg.402]

Yonr face-sealing respirator should be tested before you wear it in a situation where yon may inhale pesticides. There are two types of fit tests qnalita-tive and qnantitative. They ensure that the respirator is operating correctly and that yon are being protected. [Pg.251]

There are two types of fit tests qualitative fit tests (QLFT) and quantitative fit tests (QNFT). Both tests must be administered using an OSHA-accepted QLFT or QNFT protocol. The OSHA-accepted QLFT and QNFT protocols and procedmes are contained in Appendix A of 29 CFR 1910.134. [Pg.701]

If an individual does not pass a fit test, he or she may re-don the same facepiece and try again. If the employee is still unable to pass the fit test, then a different facepiece model or size should be selected and fit tested. At the completion of the fit test, document results in the form of a fit test record. Each fit test record should include the employee s name or identification, type of fit test conducted, specific respirator tested, date of the test, and the fit test result. According to OSHA, employers should retain fit test records until the individual s next fit test. [Pg.76]

There are two types of fitting tests used qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative tests are generally fast and... [Pg.100]

The chi-square distribution can be applied to other types of apph-catlon which are of an entirely different nature. These include apph-cations which are discussed under Goodness-of-Fit Test and Two-Way Test for Independence of Count Data. In these applications, the mathematical formulation and context are entirely different, but they do result in the same table of values. [Pg.493]

The value of the eorrelation eoeffieient using the least squares teehnique and the use of goodness-of-fit tests (in the non-linear domain) together probably provide the means to determine whieh distribution is the most appropriate (Keeeeioglu, 1991). However, a more intuitive assessment about the nature of the data must also be made when seleeting the eorreet type of distribution, for example when there is likely to be a zero threshold. [Pg.144]

To permit a leakproof and secure connection between equipment and the PVDF tubes a special type of fitting was developed and tested, see Figure 6. This fitting uses a cone of PTFE as a primary sealing element. To ensure a fairly constant pressure on the... [Pg.207]

The distribution pattern of a set of data values may be chemically relevant, but it is also of practical importance because it defines the type of statistical tests that can be used. The properties of the main distribution types found in chemistry are given below with both rules of thumb and more rigorous tests for deciding whether data fit these distributions. [Pg.272]

A four blade glass rectangle, specially made to fit the reactor, was used as a baffle system when desired. Figure 3 shows the reactor mixing configuration and the dimensions of the two types of impellers tested. A Sage Instruments model 355 syringe pump was used to feed the reaction solution to the quench reactor at a... [Pg.151]

A goodness-of-fit test is required to verify which of these three distributions best fits a specific data set. The Chi square test or Kolmogorov-Simimov test has often been used for this purpose. A simpler graphical procedure is also possible using a generalized extreme value distribution with a shape factor dependent on the type of distribution. There are two expressions for the generalized extreme value distribution, i.e., Eq 2 when fcc (a + uk) and... [Pg.94]

Chi-square Goodness of Fit Test n The chi-square goodness of fit test is a type of chi-square test for quantifying how well a model predicts the observed data for a sample. The test uses the chi-square distribution to calculate the probability that the difference between the model and the observed data was due to chance alone. If the probability of having a difference that large is small, below a predetermined significance level, the model is rejected. The model is often a theoretical probability distribution. See Chi-Square Tests. [Pg.973]

Chi-square Test of Independence n. Sometimes referred to as the chi-square test of association, it is a type of chi-square test that quantifies the relationship between two variables, attributes, or outcomes of an experiment. In its most widely used form it compares the outcome of an experiment with and without the assertion of a change or added input. This differentiates it from the chi-square goodness of fit test, which is concerned with the comparison of one variable with a modeL... [Pg.973]

To identify any significant link between the extracted contributing factors from both types of the reports, the statistical dependencies of the factors are studied two-by-two using Pearson correlation coefficient (r). The reliabilities of the studies are tested using % -goodness-of-fit test. The Spearman rank correlation coefficient (p) is also used to study the rank relation between the frequencies of... [Pg.77]

Acceptance inspections are necessary when raw materials are received. The name, type, and quantity of a material should be verified. The delivery conditions of raw materials, for instance, chilled transport, are also important in some cases and should be checked. After the acceptance inspections, there are several inspection tests to check the quality of the materials, which should fit the requirements. When these tests are carried out by suppliers of materials, users should check the specification documents indicating the test results. Recently, suppliers tend to contract for these tests. However, tests by users are still important to make sure the quality of their products. Capabilities of users to conduct tests are indispensable to decide the types and sequences of tests, which should be discussed and agreed with the suppliers testing the materials. Types of inspection tests are explained in the following section. Specification documents often include information for workers health protection such as material safety data sheet (MSDS), which should be always available to the worker. [Pg.1019]

As when applied to other types of mechanical tests, the Maxwell element won t win any prizes for quantitatively fitting dynamic data for real materials. Nevertheless, Example 8 does serve to illustrate the frequency dependence of dynamic mechanical properties, and Figs. 18.16a and h do in some ways resemble the variation in isothermal dynamic data with frequency for real materials. In particular, the apparent stiffiress (G j increases to a limiting... [Pg.327]
