Type of internals

The diameter and height of the contactor depend on the type of internals. Generally, bubble cap tray or structured packing is used as contactor internals. The following methods are used in the estimation of contactor diameter [3] The gas loading rate is estimated as [Pg.394]

The preceding C value for structured packing depends on the type of packing. A value of 329 is used for a structured packing of 125Y or equivalent. A higher value of C can be used for denser structured packing. [Pg.395]

A = cross-section area of the contactor m = mass flow of inlet gas, kg/h [Pg.395]

The actual number of trays is generally estimated by using a stage efficiency between 25 to 30% for bubble cup trays. For most engineering calculations, a tray efficiency of 25% is used [2]. [Pg.395]

Height equiv ent to theoretical plates (HETP) is usually a function of the type of packing, and surprisingly less dependent on the fluid flow within the column. For structured packing, a HETP of 1.5 m is commonly used. [Pg.395]

It must be pointed out that another type of internal motion is the overall rotation of the molecule. The vibration and rotation of the molecule are shown schematically in figure Al.2.2. [Pg.58]

A large number of ordered surface structures can be produced experimentally on single-crystal surfaces, especially with adsorbates [H]. There are also many disordered surfaces. Ordering is driven by the interactions between atoms, ions or molecules in the surface region. These forces can be of various types covalent, ionic, van der Waals, etc and there can be a mix of such types of interaction, not only within a given bond, but also from bond to bond in the same surface. A surface could, for instance, consist of a bulk material with one type of internal bonding (say, ionic). It may be covered with an overlayer of molecules with a different type of intramolecular bonding (typically covalent) and the molecules may be held to the substrate by yet another fomi of bond (e.g., van der Waals). [Pg.1758]

A set of rules determines how to set up a Z-matrix properly, Each line in the Z-matiix represents one atom of the molecule. In the first line, atom 1 is defined as Cl, which is a carbon atom and lies at the origin of the coordinate system. The second atom, C2, is at a distance of 1.5 A (second column) from atom 1 (third column) and should always be placed on one of the main axes (the x-axis in Figure 2-92). The third atom, the chlorine atom C13, has to lie in the xy-planc it is at a distanc e of 1.7 A from atom 1, and the angle a between the atoms 3-1-2 is 109 (fourth and fifth columns). The third type of internal coordinate, the torsion angle or dihedral r, is introduced in the fourth line of the Z-matiix in the sixth and seventh column. It is the angle between the planes which arc... [Pg.93]

Types of internal enamel for food containers include oleoresins, vinyl, acryflc, phenoHc, and epoxy—phenoHc. Historically can lacquers were based on oleoresinous products. PhenoHc resins have limited flexibiHty and high bake requirements, but are used on three-piece cans where flexibiHty is not required. Vinyl coatings are based on copolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate dissolved in ketonic solvents. These can be blended with alkyd, epoxy, and phenoHc resins to enhance performance. FlexibiHty allows them to be used for caps and closures as weU as drawn cans. Their principal disadvantage is high sensitivity to heat and retorting processes this restricts their appHcation to cans which are hot filled, and to beer and beverage products. [Pg.450]

Reactions are either endothermic and require heating to complete the reaction, or exothermic and raise the temperature, thus requiring some type of cooling such as quenching or an internal heat exchanger to remove reaction heat. The reactors are provided with various types of internals to support the catalyst and distribute the reaction components uniformly across the catalyst area collection internals remove the products and other distribution. [Pg.76]

Estimation of column costs for preliminaiy process evaluations requires consideration not only of the basic type of internals but also... [Pg.1404]

There were obtained all metrological characteristics, namely precision, accuracy and lower limits of detections. For this purpose the different types of International Certified Reference Materials were used. [Pg.430]

The filter elements should be replaceable and should be corrosion resistant. The filter should not contain any type of internal relief valve that would permit the bypassing of the dirty oil. [Pg.316]

The waterborne prepolymer process is similar to the prepolymer synthesis described earlier, except that most of the waterborne prepolymers are based on aliphatic isocyanates and contain an internal emulsifier. There are several types of internal emulsifiers, both anionic and cationic. A good summary of these stabilizers is found elsewhere [56], The majority of the waterborne urethanes are anionic dispersions. An internal surfactant, such as dimethylolpropionic acid, is often incorporated into the prepolymer ... [Pg.788]

Perfluorinated epoxides, which are generally susceptible to C-O cleavage during nucleophihc attack, are cleaved by lithium alummum hydnde Of the available examples, reduction of epoxides from two types of internal olefm to give alcohols IS shown [4S] (equations 37a and 37b)... [Pg.305]

For steam jacketed, agitated closed reactor ketdes, the overall U usually will range from 40-60 Btu/hr (ft ) ( F). Of course, the significant variables are the degree or type of internal wall turbulence and the viscosity and thermal characteristics of the internal fluid. For water or other liquid cooling in the reactor jacket, the U value usually ranges from 20-30. [Pg.90]

Fluid motors are usually classified according to the type of internal element which is directly actuated by the pressurized flow. The most common types of elements are gears, vanes and pistons. All three of these types are... [Pg.609]

Chemical treatment programs based on the direct addition of chemicals to FW or BW in order to prevent subsequent deposition, corrosion, or other problems from occurring. With precipitating types of internal treatments, the boiler waterside space is employed as a reaction vessel and, where a particular boiler design is unsuitable, inadvertent problems of fouling may occur. [Pg.743]

A popular type of internal chemical conditioning, precipitation water treatment program. Relies on the careful management of permanent reserve of phosphate ions in the BW to prevent waterside scale formation. [Pg.749]

Complex manufacturing systems, such as an unbleached Kraft pulp plant (Fig. 9), are almost always characterized by some type of internal structure, composed of a number of interconnected subsystems with their own data collection and decisionmaking responsibilities. This raises a number of additional issues, not addressed in previous sections. For instance, if the learning methodology described in Section VI is applied to the digester module of a pulp plant (Fig. 9), it is possible for the final selected solution, to include ranges of desired values of sulfidity... [Pg.138]

We presented extensions and variations of the basic learning methodologies aimed at enlarging their flexibility and cover a number of different situations, including systems where performance is evaluated by categorical or continuous variables, with single or multiple objectives, simple or complex plants containing some type of internal structure and composed of a number of interconnected subsystems. [Pg.153]

Proxy service Information from the Internet is retrieved by the firewall and then sent to the requesting system and vice versa. In this way, the firewall can limit the information made known to the requesting system, making vulnerabilities less apparent. Only allows temporary open holes in the network perimeter. Can be used for all types of internal protocol services. Allows direct connections to internal hosts by external clients offers no user authentication... [Pg.210]

Kerosene (kerosine) a fraction of petroleum that was initially sought as an illuminant in lamps a precursor to diesel fuel with a distillation range that generally falls within the limits of 150 and 300°C main uses are as a jet engine fuel, an illuminant, for heating purposes, and as a fuel for certain types of internal combustion engines. [Pg.333]

Let s begin on a small scale the architecture of cells. The cells of plants and bacteria have strong cell walls that provide for maintenance of shape and protection against ontside forces. The cells of animals, including those of the human body, in contrast, lack cell walls. Animal cells make do with a fragile cell membrane. Our cells, consequently, have need of an internal architecture to meet the needs supplied by cell walls in other life forms. Cells have three types of internal architectural elements microtubules, intermediate filaments, and actin filaments. Each of these structures is composed of protein. [Pg.116]

In stagewise equipment, the design and scale-up is simple and is often determined from bench data. The stage efficiency is usually high, and the capacity is determined by the settler design necessary to achieve coalescence of the dispersed phases. For differential contactors, such as columns, the flow capacity is determined by the droplet size and the type of internals (see... [Pg.299]

A cone roof tank with an internal floating roof that does not meet these criteria or uses plastic foam for flotation, even if encapsulated in metal or fiberglass, should be fire protected by side wall foam chambers suitable for the full (surface) area of the tank. This type of internal floating-roof installation is not recommended, particularly for flammable liquids. [Pg.292]
