The China Die and Mold Industry Association was founded in 1984. It is the sole nationwide organization for the dies and moulds trade in China. Under the Council of Directors, there are nine special committees Technical Committee, Operation and Management Committee, Consulting and Education/Training Committee, Die and Mold Standard Part and Component Committee, Committee of Information of Die Mold, Committee of Automobile Body Die Mold, Committee of Materials of Die Mold, Wire Drawing Die Committee, Rubber Mold Committee. 

The legally trained member of the interdisciplinary committee should provide insight as to the significance of the technological advance and as to whether any commercial product ultimately derived from the invention could be protected by an issued patent. Another important function of this person is to determine the scope of the invention based on preceding events, pubHcations, or activities which may have otherwise limited the breadth of the invention. To this end, U.S. law requires that an invention satisfy a number of prerequisites or requirements before issuing a patent novelty, nonobviousness, utiHty, and disclosure.

To make sure that all contractors and subcontractors maintain a minimum level of safety performance, the client, or general or main contractor, should establish standards for compliance. During the project planning stage, affected prime contractors should have an opportunity to provide input and resolve differences. Cross-cut committees are encouraged to allow prime contractors to standardize or normalize such essential elements as procedures, permit systems, and training. 

Another company may accomplish the same goal less formally. An ad hoc committee (at the corporate or facility level) might brainstorm on resource needs, discuss priority items with an empowered manager, and gain veriaal approval. The difference is one of style, as opposed to substance in both cases the task of identifying tools and training has been addressed. 

The problems of the Laboratory of Neonatology are unique and distinct in many details from those of the general clinical chemistry laboratory. This requires a separate operation coordinated with the operation of the Pediatric Department of the hospital. It requires a highly sophisticated Chemist at the doctorate level as supervisor, trained in this area to insure that the results are meaningful and to supervise and accelerate the development of the techniques in this area. Developments in this direction are already taking place rapidly. The Committee on Pediatric Chemistry of the American Association of Clinical Chemists is now active in developing the list of normal values for the infant. 

Farben meant "dyestuffs" the Von Schnitzler-Vom Rath families were eminent in German dyestuffs. Not long after he married Lillian vom Rath, Baron von Schnitzler took special training in dyestuffs and became, in 1928, the head of Farben s powerful Dyestuffs Committee. 

Ilgner s star rose. Following the Anschluss, he got himself appointed "the highest Farben representative to deal with the Reich Ministry of Economics on mobilization questions." He importuned the commercial committee "We must begin immediately with the greatest possible speed to employ Sudeten Germans and train them with l.G. in order to build up reserves to be employed later in Czechoslovakia." The commercial committee approved. 

While previous ACS presidents had called for greater emphasis in the academic training of chemists, it was during William Bailey s presidency that the call was heeded. Significant inner committee assignments were being filled by those sympathetic with the cause. Further, the Polymer Division s Education and Public Relations Committees were primed for action. 

A preliminary proposal related to the summer short courses was drafted by Eli Pearce and myself. This was submitted to the NSF Education Office of Experimental Projects and Programs in November of 197 1. Papers were also prepared and presented to members of the ACS Committee on Professional Training and the Committee on Education. During this time, Bill Bailey and others were active in our support. In December 1974, we received from NSF a request for a formal proposal. 

Probably the most significant single event in polymer education occurrred in 1978. The latest edition of "Undergraduate Professional Education in Chemistry Criteria and Evaluation Procedures" by the ACS Committee on Professional Training contains "In view of the current importance of inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, and polymer chemistry, advanced courses in these areas...
