Trail camera

If a trail camera is available, you can record the individnals and where and when... [Pg.46]

If a wildlife trail camera (camera trap) is available, set it up near the experimental scent mounds to record visits by beavers during the night. [Pg.56]

The SSI (solid-state imaging) camera on board the Galileo spacecraft transmitted impressive high-resolution pictures of Io s volcanic activity. Active lava lakes, lava curtains , calderas, mountains and plateaus can be seen (McEwen et al., 2000). The Hubble telescope detected both S2 gas and SO2 in a SO2 to S2 ratio of 1 4 in the smoke trail of the volcano Pele. This value suggests an equilibrium between silicate magmas in the neighbourhood of the quartz-fayalite-magnetite buffer (see Sect. 7.2.2). [Pg.49]

The sense of time suspended could not last. We had to find the village and make whatever arrangements we could to move our supplies from the river. We had to act before dark there would be time later to contemplate our situation. No one wanted to stay with the mound of supplies, so we hid them in the bushes away from the shore and started down the trail. Vanessa brought her box of cameras I carried my telescoping fiberglass butterfly net. [Pg.33]

Spitzer Space Telescope a cryogenically cooled infrared space telescope on a thermally stable Earth-trailing orbit operated by NASA. The telescope has very sensitive imaging capabilities with the IRAC (3 to 8 pm) and MIPS (24— 160 pm) cameras as well as spectroscopic capability with the IRS instrument (5-40 pm). [Pg.360]

Thomas disappears into the Empire State Building. As he trails off down the hallway, satchel in hand, the camera PANS UP to the top of the Empire State Building. [Pg.338]

I think there s kind of a contract which any film or filmmaker establishes with the viewer. And that is you, the viewer, trust me. I will always use the thing that s closest to the truth that I possibly can. Now, that may turn out to be not very close at all sometimes. The purity of the intention of the filmmaker is cmcial. And the intention is double—the truth, but the intensity of its presentation as well. If you re on the Conner Party trail, which took place 150, 160 years ago, there were no cameras there. Therefore, if a shot of a wagon train—which is, in fact, a still shot from a film made by the Church of the Latter Day Saints in the 1940s— works... [Pg.258]

Immediately (<2 min.) after laying the trails in all treatments, the door to the holding box was removed and all ensuing behaviors were recorded via a Panasonic camera capable of filming under low light. The experimenter stepped out of view and recorded... [Pg.390]

As a result, a specialized solution for supporting drivers during their assessment of the rearward traffic on highways is proposed The camera feed that is used for scene analysis is manipulated in the rendering stage to depict motion, distance, and risk potential of trailing vehicles (see Sect 4) and displayed afterwards to the driver. [Pg.486]

In this section, a monocular camera sensor based approach for motion and distance estimates of trailing vehicles as well as road course reconstmclion is proposed. The vehicle mounted sensor setup is shown in Fig. 1. A forward-looking camera is utilized to reconstruct the road course ahead whereas the odometry sensors are used to propagate this previously captured lane information behind the vehicle. [Pg.486]

Fig. 1 Vehicle Sensor setup A forward-looking camera is detecting the road course which is translated in accordance to the estimated ego motion and projected back into the backward camera image. The backward-looking camera image is initially fed into a vehicle detector to segment the trailing vehicle contours and positions inside the image. To build up a combined environment model M =. ..] which unites the road course / and... [Pg.487]

The visualization of the road course in the rear-view camera image is able to support the driver to assess the relative position of the trailing vehicles. Based on this information, some rough estimates of the spatial scene arrangement can be already performed (e.g. road course trajectory, relative position of the own vehicle to the lanes, etc.). However, without any information on position and velocity of the following vehicles, the most important data to assess the current traffic situation is still missing. [Pg.492]

Due to the fact that many modern upper-class vehicles are already equipped with forward and backward-looking cameras, the implementation of the proposed traffic analysis is a logical next step. The resulting system enables to assess risk potential, time-to-impact, relative position with respect to the track, and velocity of all trailing vehicles. This cumulative information on the traffic situation is a rich basis for multiple rendering techniques which are able convey these critical information to the driver in a natural but distinctive way (see Sects. 2 and 4). [Pg.497]

The trajectory and relative velocity of trailing vehicles is veiy essential information to assess the traffic situation on a highway. To accommodate for this, a supportive enrichment with motion and distance cues of a rear-view camera video stream is proposed. [Pg.501]

Videos captured with a vehicle mounted camera usually show large displacements within the entire scene. However the optical flow originating from the camera s ego-motion has to be separated from the flow induced by the motion of the trailing vehicles. Hence this is a computational task, which is know to be challenging [38]. [Pg.502]

Suddenly, the imthinkable happened. Only 73 seconds into the flight, the spacecraft exploded and burst into flames. Television cameras captured this disaster as a bright flash in the sky followed by a white trail of smoke. The tragedy was replayed numerous times for viewers worldwide. [Pg.390]
