Traffic volume

When enrichment episodes occur in the real world, but not in the laboratory under federal certification tests, real-world emissions are significantly higher than predicted. Further complicating emissions prediction is that aggressive driver behavior and complex traffic flow characteristics play a large role in enrichment occurrence. Current vehicle activity simulation models can predict average speeds and traffic volumes very well, but poorly predict the hard-accel-eration events that lead to enrichment. 

Air traffic access may be constrained by the operational aspects of the airport. Otherwise, the road-related traffic will be dealt with in a manner similar to that of seaports, except that the vehicles are likely to be smaller in size and of lower traffic volumes, reflecting the higher-value goods being transported by air. 

In Eugene, new measurements of traffic volume and vehicle speeds on unpaved roads led to a 2600 ton per year reduction in road dust emissions. 

The entire construction was accomplished without incident the conventional equipment and techniques worked as well as with Sulphlex binders as with asphalt. After 2.5 years service, at a traffic volume of 1000 ADT (10 percent trucks), distress is evident in a number of sections. In general, the distress has been primarily attributed to poor subgrade drainage placement of certain sections with mix at extremely low temperature (below 65C (150F)) ravelling of dry mixtures and lateral shifting of lifts due to the absence of adequate tack between them. None of the distress is uniquely related to the use of Sulphlex binders in lieu of asphalt cement in the pavement.

The speed of the information transfer depends on the bandwidth of the links and the processing speed of the routers and switches in the infrastructure.
