Hint - draw a graph of /p(back>//p(forward) against log (t). You will need the definition of T from equation (6.14). Superimpose this graph over Figure 6.21 (tracing paper is a good idea) and note the offset, which is log k. [Pg.176]

To use Fig. 21.7, one plots the values of log dm on the same scale, although not necessarily on the same range as the Hull-Davey chart using a sheet of tracing paper. Place this paper parallel to each axis until all the observed log d values fall on the chart [3]. The indices of the lines are the h, k, and / indices of the corresponding spots [3], The log d value corresponding to the 1,0 line is log a, whereas log b is 0,1[3]. [Pg.183]

A piece of tracing paper can be placed on top of the glass to slow down the printing in the shade or under artificial light. [Pg.150]

With the drawing ink, make some line drawings on the tracing paper. Attach them to sheets of your blueprint paper with paper clips. Place the opaque... [Pg.76]

Blueprints are based on a photochemical reaction. The paper is treated with a solution of iron(III) ammonium citrate and potassium hexacyanoferrate(III) and dried in the dark. When a tracing-paper drawing is placed on the blueprint paper and exposed to light, Fe ions are reduced to Fe ions, which react with hexa-cyanoferrate(III) ions in the moist paper to form the blue color on the paper. The lines of the drawing block the light and prevent the reduction of Fe ions, resulting in white lines. Find out how sepia prints are made, and report on this information. [Pg.839]

Recording of the ECG has several standard features. The paper is divided into squares of 1 mm each 10 mm (10 small boxes) is equivalent to 1 mV. Paper speed is 25 mm/s. Each small box on the tracing paper equals 0.04 second (40 ms), and each big box is 0.2 second. If there is one QRS complex per six big boxes (6 x 0.20 second), the patient has a heart rate of 50 beats per minute, whereas one QRS per big box indicates a heart rate of 300 beats per minute. [Pg.154]

Even today, thin-layer chromatograms are often drawn or traced on tracing paper, and the zones are then colored with colored pencils (Fig. 99). These methods are time consuming, and the fine color nuances can seldom be accurately represented. Nevertheless, these methods of documentation are perfectly acceptable for legal purposes [125]. [Pg.182]

This more compact sheet leads to lower porosities and reduced opacity. The ultimate version of this is natural tracing paper, where the chanical pulp is so heavily beaten, that the sheet becomes virtually transparent. This also has the effect of imparting a high level of dry strength to the sheet. [Pg.138]

When manually drawing or drafting a pattern, the primary substrate used as the basis for pattern construction is commonly brown or white wide width craft paper (80—120 g/m ). A light-weight transparent tracing paper or tissue paper is useful to transfer a shape to prove or validate the geometric correctness of a dart, check the... [Pg.213]

Tracing paper is usually piircha d with the border, title block, manufacturer s name and address, etc. printed on the standard sizes of tracing paper. The remainder of the title block is lettered free hand to supply the necessary additional infoimation When drawings are made on blank tracing paper, the entire title block and border must be drawn. [Pg.323]

The (d), (e), (f), (g), and (h) type rotors in Fig. 3 were used to measure the variation of the void volume. The speed ratio of the two rotors, the rotor speed, the phase angle between two rotors, and fill factor were the same as those mentioned in Section II.A. The rubbers used was polybutadiene (JSR, BROl). The voids behind the rotor wing were videotaped by a videocamera rotating with the same angular velocity as that of the rotor. The shape of the void from the videotape was duplicated on a tracing paper as shown in Fig. 9 and was cut out by scissors. The area of the void was calculated from the... [Pg.533]
