Rotor types

Whether the molecule is a prolate or an oblate asymmetric rotor, type A, B or C selection mles result in characteristic band shapes. These shapes, or contours, are particularly important in gas-phase infrared spectra of large asymmetric rotors, whose rotational lines are not resolved, for assigning symmetry species to observed fundamentals. [Pg.181]

This example of a single-rotor type pump makes use of an eccentric shaft on which are mounted several sliding vanes (see Figure 3-60). The vanes are forced against the... [Pg.470]

Basically two rotor types are applied in the internal mixer The tangential rotor type and the intermeshing rotor type. The latter one interferes with the adjacent rotor and turns at the same rotor speed compulsory. In the drop door or through the side plates a thermocouple is mounted to record the temperature of the mbber. [Pg.976]

For the individual rotor types, different vessels are available. The 16-vessel rotor, dedicated for the performance of standard reactions at up to 240 °C, offers 100 mL PTFE-TFM liners. Applying different pressure jackets allows continuous operation of these vessels to a maximum of 20 or 40 bar, respectively. The 8-vessel rotor is designed for high-pressure reactions, offering PTFE-TFM liners or quartz vessels, which enable reactions to be performed at 300 °C and 80 bar for several hours. [Pg.46]

The tubes of the swinging bucket rotor type are accommodated in a pivoted bucket moving from vertical to horizontal position during acceleration under the influence of the centrifugal field. The sedimentation path length is lowest in vertical rotors and highest in swinging-bucket rotors. [Pg.162]

An alternative, and more expensive, technique involves the application of commercial glass inserts, which are offered by Wilmad for all commercial MAS NMR rotor types. Approximately 60 or 200 mg of catalyst powder can be filled into a 4-mm or 7-mm glass insert, respectively. After calcination of the catalyst and adsorption of reactant molecules introduced from a vacuum line, the glass insert is sealed at the waist (Fig. 7). To prevent heating of the sample, the glass ampoule is clamped in one of the chucks and cooled by liquid nitrogen. [Pg.161]

Rosen et al. (1992) compared downhole sampling using a helical rotor type of centrifugal pump with an absorption cartridge for volatile organic compounds. They found that this method of bringing water to the surface could be reliable in many circumstances but that care was needed with adsorption, cross-contamination and out gassing. [Pg.36]

Recently, rotor-type adsorption systems attract much attention, because the systems can effectively control humidity and air pollutants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and sulfiuic oxide (SOx). Gas remediation efficiency is principally concerned to the gas capturing ability of the adsorbents impregnated into the ceramic honeycomb rotor such as zeolite, silica, activated carbon, etc. Therefore, it is one of the most important works to develop the adsorbent with good absorption-desorption behaviors. [Pg.381]

Nowadays, rotor-type dehumidification and air-conditioning systems are spotlighted and begin to be industrialized, because the systems don t use CFCs which are known to be representative chemicals destroying an ozone layer in earth. Generally, silica gel is used as a dehumidifier in the dehumidification and air-cooling rotor. Therefore, it is important to improve the dehumidification efficiency of silica desiccant in this field. [Pg.381]

In the present study we utilized Plasticorder torque values (polymer viscosity) on a relative basis, principally to follow the course of thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer polymerization, and the effect of several relevant variables on this polymerization. These torque data, expressed in meter-grams, served our purposes well, and we have not attempted to translate them to absolute rheological units. Such translation, which is a rather complex problem, has been addressed by others using a different rotor type and other polymers in the Plasticorder.14 That study concluded that the shear rate, y, of the Brabender Plasticorder with a somewhat different rotor configuration (roller blade) is in the range of 23 - 228 sec 1 over the rotor speed range of 30 - 200 rpm. [Pg.441]

The rotor of generators may be either cylindricaT or salient in construction. Synchronous motors nearly always have salient pole rotors. Machines with four or more poles are always of the salient pole rotor type. Cylindrical pole rotors are used for two-pole generators, and these generators are usually driven by steam or gas turbines at 3600 rpm for 60 Hz or 3000 rpm for 50 Hz operation and have power output ratings above 30 megawatts. [Pg.62]
