Shipping and Storage. MaHc acid is shipped in 50-lb, 100-lb, and 25-kg, multiwall paper bags or 100-lb (45.5 kg) fiber dmms. A technical-grade, 50% solution may be shipped in tank cars or tank tmcks. MaHc acid can be stored in dry form without difficulty, although conditions of high humidity and elevated temperatures should be avoided to prevent caking. [Pg.523]

Dry oxahc acid is packed and sold in polyethylene-lined, multilayered 25-kg paper bags or in polyethylene-lined 300—600-kg PVC flexible containers. It should be stored in a cool, dry, ventilated place. For storage of its solutions at ordinary temperature, 316 stainless steel is often used as a constmction material. [Pg.461]

Textile. Textile bags are made from natural fibers such as cotton and burlap (see Fibers, vegetable). Burlap or Hessian cloth is woven from jute fibers. Because the supply of jute and, consequendy, its price have been uncertain for many years, textile bags gradually have been replaced by various combinations of textile components with plastic or paper, multiwaH paper bags, or plastic bags (see Textiles). [Pg.514]

Multiwall Paper. MultiwaU. paper bags represent by far the most common type of bag used to store and transport chemicals. The terms sack and bag are often used interchangeably, although sack usually refers to heavier-duty bags. Several types of paper shipping sacks are used commonly in industry, featuring such constmctions as sewn or pasted ends, gussets or flat, and a variety of valves (see Paper). [Pg.514]

Gumylphenol. -Cumylphenol (PGP) or 4-(1-methyl-l-phenylethyl)phenol is produced by the alkylation of phenol with a-methylstyrene under acid catalysis. a-Methylstyrene is a by-product from the production of phenol via the cumene oxidation process. The principal by-products from the production of 4-cumylphenol result from the dimerization and intramolecular alkylation of a-methylstyrene to yield substituted indanes. 4-Cumylphenol [599-64-4] is purified by either fractional distillation or crystallization from a suitable solvent. Purification by crystallization results in the easy separation of the substituted indanes from the product and yields a soHd material which is packaged in plastic or paper bags (20 kg net weight). Purification of 4-cumylphenol by fractional distillation yields a product which is almost totally free of any dicumylphenol. The molten product resulting from purification by distillation can be flaked to yield a soHd form however, the soHd form of 4-cumylphenol sinters severely over time. PGP is best stored and transported as a molten material. [Pg.66]

Liquid sodium alumiaate is available ia steel drums having an approximate capacity of 210 L and bulk shipments are available ia either tank tmcks or railroad tank cars. The density of Hquid sodium alumiaate is usually from 1450 to 1510 kg/m. SoHd products are available ia moisture-proof paper bags or fiber drums containing approximately 23 and 150 kg, respectively. [Pg.140]

Shipping of aluminum hydroxide powders is usually in paper bags of 10 to 25 kg size. Bulk shipment by road or rail wagons is also common. Aluminum hydroxides are not hygroscopic, but could be dusty and precautions against dust inhalation should be taken during handling. [Pg.172]

Fatty amine products are normally shipped in 55-gal (208 L), lined and unlined, steel dmms or in tank cars or tank tmcks for bulk shipments. High melting amines can be flaked and shipped in cardboard cartons or paper bags. The amines are corrosive to skin and eyes. Protective splash goggles and gloves should be worn when handling these materials. [Pg.223]

In Japan, sulfamic acid is produced and suppHed in crystal form. It is packaged in 25-kg net weight paper bags and in 600-kg, 700-kg, and 750-kg resinous dexible containers. The tmddoad price (fob Japan) is 1—2/kg. Three principal uses of sulfamic acid are in chemical cleaning, as sulfonation reagent, and for use in synthetic sweetener. [Pg.64]

Shipment and Storage. Anhydrous sodium sulfite is suppHed in 22.7- and 45.4-kg moistureproof paper bags or 45.4- and 159-kg fiber dmms. Most sodium sulfite is shipped by rail in hopper cars. Sodium sulfite should be protected from moisture during storage. When dry it is quite stable, but when wet it is oxidized by air. [Pg.149]

The product is shipped in 45-kg polyethylene-lined paper bags, 23-kg Fiberpak dmms, and 57- and 136-kg Leverpak dmms. [Pg.472]

Shipment. The shipment of porcelain enamel is typically in 45-kg (100-lb) three-ply paper bags. More recently, 227-kg (500-lb) multi-ply cardboard barrels and bulk bags made of high strength woven polymers have been used. Porcelain enamel frit, powder, and premixed and premilled mill additions ate shipped in these flexible containers. [Pg.218]

Custom-ground natural magnetite is available in many size ranges. Table 19-13 gives atypical specification sheet. Cost is based on truckload quantities in 45.4-kg (100-lb) paper bags, FOB Frazer, Pennsylvania. [Pg.1789]
