Tool Training

Training Materiais. Like any other written or audio-visual maintenance tool, training materials of all kinds are basically communication devices, and to be effective, should be presented in a simple straightforward, attractive, and professional manner. [Pg.743]

Technical support is provided by DOE in the form of tools, training programs, code user support through a toll-free number, and analysis directed by the states. [Pg.202]

Employees operating powder-actuated hand tools. Training is required before operation of tool. [Pg.33]

Train employees on the proper use of hand tools. The handout provided here is an overview of general rules for using hand tools. Train employees on specific information regarding the tools they work with to ensure they know how to operate their hand tools safely and effectively. [Pg.901]

Use the demonstration technique for hand tool training. Choose your best user of a specific tool if there is a particidar point you want to emphasize regarding that tool, especially if there is an ergonomic injiuy hazard associated with the incorrect handling or use of the tool. [Pg.902]

Are employees who operate powder-actuated tools trained in their use and required to carry a valid... [Pg.178]

Recommendation III Improve accessibility. This recommendation calls for increasing the availability of education tools, training, and information to all involved. Also, incorporating evidence of cost reduction and increment in productivity into these tools. [Pg.118]

Employers should seek additional tools to help ensure their workers are not exposed to noise levels that can contribute to a recordable hearing loss. New technologies and tools train employees on positive hearing conservation behaviors and document such company efforts. [Pg.41]

Neural network classifiers. The neural network or other statistical classifiers impose strong requirements on the data and the inspection, however, when these are fulfilled then good fully automatic classification systems can be developed within a short period of time. This is for example the case if the inspection is a part of a manufacturing process, where the inspected pieces and the possible defect mechanisms are well known and the whole NDT inspection is done in repeatable conditions. In such cases it is possible to collect (or manufacture) as set of defect pieces, which can be used to obtain a training set. There are some commercially available tools (like ICEPAK [Chan, et al., 1988]) which can construct classifiers without any a-priori information, based only on the training sets of data. One has, however, always to remember about the limitations of this technique, otherwise serious misclassifications may go unnoticed. [Pg.100]

For several years, the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) has developed modelling tools for ultrasonic NDT configurations. Implemented within the CIVA software for multiple technique NDT data acquisition and processing [1,2], these models are not only devoted to laboratory uses but also dedicated to ultrasonic operators without special training in simulation techniques. This approach has led us to develop approximate models carrying out the compromise between as accurate as possible quantitative predictions and simplicity, speed and intensive use in an industrial context. [Pg.735]

The central message of chemistry is that the prop erties of a substance come from its structure What is less obvious but very powerful is the corollary Someone with training m chemistry can look at the structure of a substance and tell you a lot about its properties Organic chemistry has always been and continues to be the branch of chemistry that best connects structure with properties Our objective has been to emphasize the con nection between structure and properties using the tools best suited to make that connection... [Pg.1331]

If a faciHty is large enough to support an in-house maintenance department, management of such a department has the responsibiHty to assure that its maintenance and operation s program is at all times cost effective. The greatest benefit of an in-house maintenance department must be its spirit of ownership. Workers should be trained to have pride of ownership, and must be given the tools to maintain this pride. [Pg.442]

The other space-saving approach is to use the Kobe (Kobe Steel) type of channel enclosure, which does not have all the external head bolts of typical TEMA Type B or Type C head enclosures. These exchangers require special tools to remove the tube bundles and trained maintenance personnel to do the work. These exchangers should never be located in stmctures because of the need to be able to access the channel from grade as it is difficult to remove the channel cover plate by using special equipment. [Pg.78]

The Tools of Quality. Quahty assurance also plays an important role in problem solving and process improvement. To do so, QA personnel must be knowledgeable in the many so-called tools of quahty (TOQ) and theh apphcation, so as to guide the efforts of process improvement. Many QA organizations are involved in training employees in these techniques to facihtate quahty improvement. [Pg.369]

Many of the tools are aimed at classification and prediction problems, such as the handwriting example, where a training set of data vectors for which the property is known is used to develop a classification rule. Then the rule can be appHed to a test set of data vectors for which the property is... [Pg.417]
