ABS are good insulators even in a wet environment and are used for insulating housings of electric appliances, power tools. Special grades are marketed for electrical applications. Antistatic grades are marketed.

Perturbation theory is a tool specially developed for these purposes it deals directly with differences in energy due to changes in the Hamiltonian and has the analytic power to separate various orders of dependence of the energy on these changes.

In our group we have invested effort in the constrained DFT (cDFT) in the formalism introduced by Dederichs et al. and further developed by Wu and Van Voorhis based on optimized potential theory.

Given this background, we believe CPFR has application beyond its root intentions for retailers and their manufacturers. In this chapter, we investigate the phenomenon known as CPFR and explain why, after more than half a decade, firms are still struggling to reap the benefits of this powerful tool.
