Time spent

The main cost factor ot coring is usually the rig time spent on the total operation and the follow up investigations in the laboratory. Core analysis is complex and may involve different laboratories. It may therefore take months before final results are available. As a result of the relatively high costs and a long lead time of core evaluations the technique is only used in selected intervals in a number of wells drilled. [Pg.129]

Ions generated in the ion source region of the instrument may have initial velocities isotropically distributed in tliree dimensions (for gaseous samples, this initial velocity is the predicted Maxwell-Boltzmaim distribution at the sample temperature). The time the ions spend in the source will now depend on the direction of their initial velocity. At one extreme, the ions may have a velocity Vq in the direction of the extraction grid. The time spent in the source will be... [Pg.1352]

This behavior is consistent with experimental data. For high-frequency excitation, no fluorescence rise-time and a biexponential decay is seen. The lack of rise-time corresponds to a very fast internal conversion, which is seen in the trajectory calculation. The biexponential decay indicates two mechanisms, a fast component due to direct crossing (not seen in the trajectory calculation but would be the result for other starting conditions) and a slow component that samples the excited-state minima (as seen in the tiajectory). Long wavelength excitation, in contrast, leads to an observable rise time and monoexponential decay. This corresponds to the dominance of the slow component, and more time spent on the upper surface. [Pg.306]

The fifth and final chapter, on Parallel Force Field Evaluation, takes account of the fact that the bulk of CPU time spent in MD simulations is required for evaluation of the force field. In the first paper, BOARD and his coworkers present a comparison of the performance of various parallel implementations of Ewald and multipole summations together with recommendations for their application. The second paper, by Phillips et AL., addresses the special problems associated with the design of parallel MD programs. Conflicting issues that shape the design of such codes are identified and the use of features such as multiple threads and message-driven execution is described. The final paper, by Okunbor Murty, compares three force decomposition techniques (the checkerboard partitioning method. [Pg.499]

Similarly, with molecules, their speed of movement through the chromatographic column depends on the time spent in the mobile phase compared with that in the stationary one and on the flow rate of the mobile phase. [Pg.248]

Is the proportion of his time spent on quality matters sufficient to meet the requirements of the job ... [Pg.183]

The proportion of time spent on quality matters will vaiy with the size of the company. The assessor should make a personal judgment. [Pg.191]

Exposure assessment techniques now attempt to include as many as possible of the locations in which individuals now spend time. The concept involves identification of microenvironments which are important for potential exposure. For example, exposure to CO would include time spent in commuting, parking garages, in residences with gas stoves, as well as time spent outdoors. This approach classifies time spent in these microenvironments and the typical concentrations of CO in these locations. [Pg.383]

However, in this case, over the time period (tr), a fraction of time spent by the solute in the stationary phase and, thus,... [Pg.249]

Now, the ratio of the mean phase residence times is the time the solute spends in the mobile phase divided by the time spent in the stationary phase. Thus,... [Pg.254]

The lower bound 0 in the integration refers to the time at which the first contact is made after attaining the fully relaxed state. The upper bound / is the actual time spent in the loading experiment when the load P(i) is recorded. [Pg.124]

Experience tells us that enforcement time spent on the mandatory safety glass program takes less time today than it did in years past. The authors believe that reasons for easier enforcement include ... [Pg.129]

Don t allocate funds for managing the quality system without providing a means of collecting the costs or time spent. [Pg.156]

Create forms for reporting servicing calls, time spent, components changed, etc. [Pg.544]

Do it once = do it right. The process outlined here requires a front-loaded level of effort to ensure that the solutions you determine will hold up over time. In many companies this deliberate approach to problem-solving runs counter to a more action-oriented" culture, and there is a strong temptation to fix the problem and get on with it. Keep in mind that the goal here is to develop a process, not to undertake multiple tasks, and consider the time spent in gathering this information as an investment in the longer term value of the resulting PSM system. [Pg.73]

These improvements are more likely to occur at the program and element level. For example, at one chemical company a group of senior operators took an initiative to redesign the work permit process that reduced the number of forms required, reduced the time required to issue a permit from an average of two hours to 30 minutes and improved the workplace monitoring needed to ensure a safe work environment. The reduction in the time to issue permits increased maintenance productivity by at least 10 percent, by reducing maintenance worker time spent waiting for permits. This more responsive system also reduced the number of instances where work went ahead without the appropriate permit. [Pg.141]
