Textiles flocking

Flexbond . [Air Prods.] Polyvinyl acetate, vinyl acrylic, or acrylic emulsitms for adhesives, paints, caulks, ceiling tile, insulation binder, textil flock binder. [Pg.147]

Uses Binder for paper and paperboard coatings, textiles (flocking, fabric backcoating/finishing. pigment printing)... [Pg.698]

The purpose of this phase of the research was to evaluate practical uses of the textile wastes in various products involving the textile flocking process. In this regard, consideration was given to evaluating flock fibers fabricated from textile wastes of fiber mixtures in various applications. Several questions were posed by this initial smdy ... [Pg.156]

Slide angle for various textile flock-to-flock as a function of normal load at 60% RH. [Pg.159]

To determine the best photographic method for die study of prehistoric textiles, experimentation with different light sources was necessary. A single lens reflex (SLR) film camera (Canon AE1) with an option for manual adjustments, and different macro and zoom lenses and filters were used for all photography. All pictures were taken with the samples placed on flocking paper (Edmund Scientific), which creates an optically inert background and therefore does not interfere with the optical properties of the textile to be examined. Details of the forensic photography methods are described in Baldia and Jakes (64, 65). [Pg.27]

Acrylic or methacryTic acid, at about 2 - 3% of monomers, is often a conponent, helping latex stability, curing and adhesive properties. The major monomers are often present in quite conplex mixtures to suit specific applications. Thus acrylonitrile assists solvent resistance.(id) Most of the modifications are for various aspects of textile finishing. There is an increasing interest in flocking adhesives. (l2 - I4)... [Pg.332]

In textile industry it is used in laminating and as adhesive in the flocking of fabrics and in the finishing product of the fabrics as a mixture with formaldehyde containing reactants and resins. Nonwoven textile industry uses it as binder and thermosetting of acrylic emulsion. [Pg.565]

Because of the exothermic reaction on curing and the accompanying shrinkage, it is necessary to incorporate inert fillers to reduce resin content. Fillers also serve to reduce cost ad may give additional benefits, such as improving the shock resistance. Commonly used fillers are wood flour, cotton flock, textile shreds, mica, and asbestos. [Pg.470]

Typical applications for adhesion promoters today include truck tarpaulins and other coverings, air-inflated halls and other textile structures, flexible containers, tent roofs, marquees, protective clothing, conveyor belts, flocked carpeting, and foamed artificial leather. [Pg.121]

Adhesives are widely used in the textile industry as shown in Table 1. If sizes and tyre cord dips are excluded, approximately 65% are used in carpet backing (mostly styrene-butadiene rubbers). Other major uses of adhesives are in non-wovens as binders (15%), in fabric backing (8%), in flocking and laminating (8%) and in fusible interlinings (2%). [Pg.38]

Summarizing, it appears that the flock fiber material obtained from the PCL textile waste can be flocked. Further property evaluations of these PCL waste flocked surfaces were performed aud are desalbed in the following. [Pg.157]
