Massed along the border were three quarters of a million Nazi troops. Marching after the Luftwaffe, four out of every ten foot soldiers were warmed by Farben textiles, wore Farben plastic helmets, were outfitted with a dozen other Farben articles from mess kits to puttees. 

The Ammonia-Soda Process. Sodium carbonate is very important chemical over three million tons is made every year. About a quarter of the total amount is usc d in making glass, and another quarter in making soap, the rest being required in the textile industry, the paper industry, and many other industries. Nearly all of this great quantity of sodium carbonate is made from scdium chloride by a process called the ammonia-soda process or Solvay process. 

Since a laser beam can be focused down to a very small spot of light which can be absorbed very well at the surface of a material (be it metal, plastic, textile, etc.), the material can reach very high temperatures up to 9,032°F (5,000°C) and melt or even vaporize. In factories, laser systems are used to measure parts, inspect them for quality, and label, cut, weld, or resurface materials ranging from plastic film to sheet steel a quarter of an inch thick.

During World War II he served as technical adviser to the Commandant of the Chemical Warfare Service Development Laboratory at M.I.T. This laboratory, designed for use by the Chemical Engineering Department, served as its quarters from 1946 to 1976. He was appointed Chief Scientific Adviser to the Chief of Research and Development in 1958 and has lived in retirement in Arizona since 1960. His services as a consultant in the fields of petroleum, textiles, paper, and mechanical and electronic equipment were of great value in introducing the realities of the chemical engineering profession into the classroom, thus making his lectures come alive for the students. 

The third quarter of the century started with a renewed corporate dedication to research and development. The Yeh Group, which produces both warp and weft knitted fabrics, says it will be the first textile manufacturer to implement a new waterless dyeing process developed by DyeCoo Textile Systems of the Netherlands which is currently being readied for commercial introduction in the fourth quarter of this year. The company says it has exclusive rights to the process and is branding fabrics produced using it as DryDye fabrics. 

Butyl acrylate is mainly used to produce acrylic polymers. About 40% of these polymers are used by the coatings industry, while another quarter of this chemical is reacted with the ethylene to produce a copolymer. Another 18% is used by the adhesives industry, and an additional 8% is used to make textiles. 

Opposition to the tariff bills, either parts of them or in their entirety, came from several quarters, including textile manufacturers, importers, and politicians concerned about political philosophy and the tactics of the industry proponents. The textile industrialists, as the largest consumers of synthetic organic chemicals, potentially wielded the economic clout to make or break U.S. dyes manufacturers. In the aftermath of the war, however, the textile manufacturers disagreed among themselves about the tariff... 

Many polyamides or copolyamides can be synthesized. Actually, only a small number of them reached a significant industrial development. Polyamides 6 and 6,6 share 85% of total annual market of 7.5 million tons (4 million tons for PA-6 and 2.5 million tons for PA-6,6). The three quarters of the production (4 million tons) are used for the manufacture of textile fibers, the rest is utilized as thermoplastic technical polymer.
