Textile Forum

Textile Forum, quarterly. North Carolina State College, Raleigh, N. C. [Pg.197]

We are grateful to the Cellulose, Paper, and Textile Division of the ACS for supplying the forum for this work and to the division and Novo Nor-disk Industries for partial funding of the symposium. [Pg.528]

Finding a Method Various organizations publish volumes of methods for chemical analysis. One of the most well known is the American Society for Testing and Materials, or ASTM. The ASTM is a not-for-profit organization that provides a forum for producers, users, and consumers, to write standards for materials, products, systems, and services. The ASTM (Figure 5.19) publishes standard test methods encompassing metals, paints, plastics, textiles, petroleum, construction, energy, the environment, consumer products, medical services and devices, computerized systems, electronics, and many other areas. More than 10,000 ASTM standards are published each year in the 72 volumes of the Annual Book of ASTM Standards. Individual standards are also available. [Pg.40]

Extensive research has been published on the chemistry and physics of paper and textiles. From the volume of available work, physical scientists must extract the information required by conservators to assist them in the preservation of fibrous materials. To this end, the Cellulose, Paper, and Textile Division of the American Chemical Society has sponsored four symposia since the mid-1970s on the preservation of paper and textiles of historic and artistic value. These conferences provided a forum where conservators and physical scientists could meet and discuss matters of mutual interest Papers presented at the first three meetings have been published as chapters in three volumes of the Advances in Chemistry Series ... [Pg.265]

To address emissions of flame-retardants, a Voluntary Emissions Control Action Program (VECAP ) was initiated by the Bromine Science and Environmental Forum (BSEF).112 The VECAP Pilot program was initiated in the U.K. textiles industries in 2004 to reduced emissions of deca-BDE in line with the Code of Good Practice. After 1 year of implementation, the U.K. Pilot Program achieved a 75% reduction in emissions to water.113 The second year, a total of 90% reduction in emissions was then realized. [Pg.698]
