Alcell [Alcohol cellulose] A process for delignifying wood pulp by dissolving it in aqueous ethanol at high temperature and pressure. Developed by Repap Technologies, United States. [Pg.15]

T2BX [Toluene to benzene and xylenes] A process for converting toluene to a mixture of benzene and xylenes. Toluene vapor, mixed with hydrogen, is passed over a zeolite catalyst at 430 to 370°C the hydrogen is separated and the products fractionated. The production of benzene is its main purpose. Developed by Cosden Technology, United States. [Pg.265]

UPS is also a large technology company and a telecommunications company. It operates the largest DB2 database in the world with 412 terabytes of dynamic memory. Its mainframe capacity allows for the transmission of more than 22 million instructions per second. UPS employs over 4,700 employees in its technology unit, and it also operates the world s largest phone system. UPS s mobile radio network transmits more than 3 million packets of tracking data each day. Its communication scale is further illustrated by the fact that it has over 145 million hits per business day on its website with peak days of 252 million hits. It processes 10 million tracking requests a day. [Pg.36]

This work was supported by NSF Grant No. DAR-8003523. Early work on the toxins was supported by the New Hampshire Water Resources Research Center of the University of New Hampshire, Grant No. AO-47NH, from the Office of Water Research and Technology, United States Department of the Interior as authorized under the Water Research and Development Act of 1978, Public Law 95-467. We also thank Dr. William J. Adelman, Jr., NINCDS, Woods Hole, for performing the voltage-clamp experiments Kurt Auger for superior work in biochemistry and Toshinori Hoshi for studies on the crayfish axons. [Pg.405]

The MicroDose DPI (MicroDose Technologies, United States) is a breath-activated device that includes a piezoelectric vibrator that converts electrical energy from a battery to mechanical motion that is then transferred into the dry powder. The vibration energy deaggregates and aerosolizes the dose. By controlling the energy input, i.e., the amplitude and frequency of the vibration, the DPI is claimed to be usable for various compounds. As with the devices from Nektar and Dura, the MicroDose DPI uses accurately filled unit-dose blisters. [Pg.254]

A chemical process system comprises of a set of interconnected physical, chemical, biological and even information technological unit processes. The functional task of a chemical process system is the transformation of the type, properties and composition of given raw materials to result in a desired material product with given specifications. This transformation process is implemented in a process plant which consists of various pieces of equipment dedicated to one or more related unit processes in order to achieve the sequence of... [Pg.3]
