Tablet testing

Jimenez-Castellanos et al. developed a method to measure both the adhesional and frictional forces involved in the attachment of such tablets to mucosa. These researchers found that a good correlation existed between the maximal adhesion strength and polymer content of the tablets tested [155].

Mix the tablet test set prepared for sensitivity determination with placebo tablets. Pass this mixture completely through the metal check sensor at a mass flow necessary to cover the output (kg tablets/min) of the connected tablet press. 

The choice of test equipment and methods has become extremely wide and, apart from large, integrated, electronic colorimetric and spectrophotometric instrumentation, field personnel can choose from miniburettes, direct-reading titrators (modified syringes), digital titrators, drop tests, tablet tests, permanent color standard comparators, indicator papers, portable colorimeters, immunoassays, etc. Today, field-test methods tend to be tailored by equipment manufacturers to their own analytical systems, and consequently the specified use of particular standard methods for the examination of water, from any one technology or official body, is probably not realistic. Rather it is the fitness-for-purpose rule that is more relevant.

Metaprolol tartrate tablet testing uses UV and IR spectroscopy for metaprolol ID, TLC for the tartrate ion ID, and HPLC retention time for identification. The IR spectroscopy test is carried out by dissolving approximately 136 mg of finely ground tablets and in 25 mL of water with 4 mL of ammonium hydroxide (1 3). The measured response for each experimental run was the time in minutes for 75% liberation of the active substance in the tablets tested.

A tablet test, manufactured by the Ames company for the detection of reducing substances in urine. It is based on the Benedict reaction. 

Rothera s test. Ketone bodies react with sodium nitro-prusside to produce a purple colour. This is the basis of the Acetest tablet test and Ketostix reagent strip test.
