Support, contracting

Medical surveillance programs range from support contracts with local hospitals or physicians to full-scale on-site occupational health organizations that include physicians, nurses, and technicians who are employed by prime contractors. The option selected depends on the size of the project, the nature of the hazards involved, the capabilities of local facilities, and the resources available.

Functional expression of chimeras of the skeletal and cardiac muscle Uj subunit in skeletal muscle cells from mdg mice showed that the cytoplasmic loop between repeats II and III determines the type of excitation-contraction coupling (Fig. 2). The loop from the skeletal muscle calcium channel Ujs supports contraction in the absence of calcium influx, whereas the loop from the cardiac calcium channel Ujc subunit induces contraction only in the presence of calcium influx (Tanabe etal., 1990). These results suggest that the loop between repeats II and III interacts with the ryanodine receptor in a tissue-specific manner. 

The sufficiency of myosin phosphorylation for contraction in smooth muscle is indisputably demonstrated in experiments where the addition of pro-teolyzed CaM-independent MLCK to permeabilized fibers brings about contraction at very low [Ca +] (Walsh et al, 1982). Furthermore, injection of CaM-independent MLCK into single smooth muscle cells results in contraction under conditions where [Ca +]j remains at resting values (Itoh et al, 1989). These results tend to rule out a model in which thin filaments are fully inhibited in resting muscle, and require Ca2+-dependent disinhibition to support contraction. However, these experiments do not rule out the possibility that thin filament-binding proteins modulate the contractile response. Alterations in the RLC phosphorylation-force relation in intact muscle indicate that collateral regulation can occur. Moreover, experiments with permeabilized fibers demonstrate that thin filament-binding proteins can inhibit force independent of RLC phosphorylation (Pfitzer et al,...

Our paper differs from previous ones in a number of distinguishing features first, we take a critical look at the implicit assumptions on safety requirements and use contracts to make such assumption explicit second, we focus on the usage of concrete tools to support contracts and testing to the best of oiu knowledge, it is the first contribution that concretely integrates a tool that supports contracts with a tool for testing in a way that the same model is used by both tools. 

From a cost perspective, a standardised approach (whether in hardware or software) is preferable as such an approach is easy to buy, deploy, and sign support contracts for. Specialised solutions will drive cost and should be avoided as far as possible. 

The EMS component safety contracts related to the Estimator component are provided in Table 3. The EMS strong contract is similar to the one for the Estimator component, ensuring the input and output port ranges. The weak contract B2, H2) guarantees that the deviation of the estimated fuel consumption does not exceed 0.4% of the actual fuel consumption under the assumed engine parameters and freshness of the information obtained from the engine. A simulation of the EMS component s behaviour under the stated conditions is attached as an evidence to support contract completeness.
