Super tropical bleach

Solid hypochlorites [e.g., high test hypochlorite (HTH), super tropical bleach (STB), and Dutch powder] are also effective in destroying G-series agents. Reaction with hypochlorites, including household bleach, may produce toxic gases such as chlorine. 

If 5.25 percent Sodium Hypochlorite solution is not available then the following decontaminants may be used instead and are listed in the order of preference Calcium Hypochlorite Decontamination Solution No. 2 (DS2), and Super Tropical Bleach Slurry (STB). WARNING Pure, undiluted Calcium Hypochlorite (HTH) will burn on contact with liquid blister agent. 

WARNING Never use dry High Test Hypochlorite (HTH) or Super Tropical Bleach (STB) since they will react violently with T and may burst into flames. 

INCOMPATIBILITY DS2 is a corrosive material and because of its content, it is incompatible with some metals (e.g., cadmium, tin and zinc) some plastics (e.g., Lexan, cellulose acetate, polyvinyl chloride, Mylar, and acrylic) some paints wool leather oxidizing materials (e.g., Super Tropical Bleach or High Test Hypochlorite) and acids. 

DS2 is a clear, amber colored liquid effective against all known toxic chemical agents and biological materials (except bacterial spores). It is issued in a 1 1/3 quart can (Mil), 14-Liter container (M13), and 5 gallon container. DS-2 is extremely corrosive and dissolves paint. Since DS-2 is extremely corrosive it is not for use on people or on electronics or other sensitive equipment. DS-2 ignites spontaneously on contact with super tropical bleach (STB) or calcium hypochlorite (HTH). 

STB - Super Tropical Bleach. A decontaminant. Sternutator - A substance that irritates the nasal and respiratory passages and causes coughing and sneezing. 

The M12A1 Power-Driven Decontamination Apparatus (PDDA) is used to apply decontamination solutions or hot soapy water and rinses during field decontamination operations. The M12A1 PDDA consists of a pump unit, 500-gal tank, personnel shower assembly, and M2 water heater, all of which is mounted on a 5- or 10-ton truck with drop sides (Figure 16-41). The pump assembly can deliver 50 gal of water or super tropical bleach (STB) decontaminating agent per minute at a pressure of 105 psi to the two spray wands.
