Standards, British Harmonized

UK engineering recommendation - G5/3 (British Electricity Council Standard). For harmonic voltage distortions in the system as in Table 23.2. [Pg.744]

Science cannot be performed without an accurate system of measurement, which is globally standardized and compulsory. Units and standards of measurement are agreed upon and harmonized on an international basis by the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures in Sevres, France, and by the International Organization for Standardization in Geneva, Switzerland. The units and standards are then laid down in national laws. Nearly all countries have accepted the Systeme International d Unites (SI units) as their system of measurement. This also applies to countries that had been accustomed to use British units like Australia, Canada, South Africa and the United States. In Britain, SI units are official from January 2010. The valid standards are available from the competent bureaus, for example Bureau International des Poids et Mesures, www.bip.fr National Measurement Institute (Australia), www.measurement.gov.au National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, USA), www.physics.nist.gov/ Pubs/SP811/... [Pg.247]

Implementation of the recommendations led to a change in configuration of the membership in the pharmacopeial harmonization process. Whereas the British Pharmacopoeia had been an independent member of the Quadripartite Group from its inception, implementation of harmonization of standards and tests for excipient was... [Pg.80]

Efforts are under way to make the USP-NF more useful worldwide. Incorporation of monographs for multi-vitamin products, biotechnology-derived products, veterinary drugs, and botanicals and other dietary supplements help. The US AN and USP Dictionary of Drug Names has wide international applicability, thereby making it a repository of International Names Nomenclature (INN) and British Adopted Names (BAN), as well as U.S. Adopted Names (USAN). Pharmacopeial Forum now contains announcements of proposals from the Japanese Pharmacopeia and European Pharmacopeia for revision of standards for international harmonization. [Pg.2844]

It is interesting to note that the EU does not have an equivalent regulation to 21 CFR 11 but rather claims its basic requirements are already embodied in existing EU GxP directives and standards, such as British Standard (BS) 7799. Indeed, the MCA has stated at conferences that they do not hold to all the requirements prescribed in 21 CFR 11. Harmonization may alter this situation (see Chapter 17). A requirement for corporate computer systems used in the EU that is not specified in 21 CFR 11, however, is the need to define the role of the qualified person in terms of electronic approvals and authorizations. This is especially important for critical GxP actions like batch release, recall, and annual product reviews. Further information on the practical issues affecting 21 CFR 11 can be found in Chapter 16. [Pg.136]

The current edition of the IET Wiring Regulations is the 3rd Amendment to the 17th edition 2015. The main reason for incorporating the IET Wiring Regulations into British Standard BS 7671 2008 was to create harmonization with European Standards. [Pg.13]

The purpose in harmonizing British and European Standards is to help develop a single European market economy so that there are no trade barriers to electrical goods and services across the European Economic Area. [Pg.13]

PVC armoured cables terminated into accessories with approved flameproof glands or any other wiring system which is approved by the British Standard. All certified flameproof enclosures will be marked Ex, indicating that they are suitable for potentially explosive situations, or EEx, where equipment is certified to the harmonized European Standard. All the equipment used in a flameproof installation must camy the appropriate markings, as shown in Fig. 3.72, if the integrity of the wiring system is to be maintained. [Pg.245]
