Spray line

There were over 3000 electrostatic powder spray lines and about 800 other powder coating installations operating in the United States as of 1991. Eor additional general information on the safety aspects of powder coatings, see References 90, 93, and 94. 

Inhalation Route - Estimation of Vapour Exposure. In a study of drift exposure following aerial application of an organo-phosphorus pesticide, Crabbe t al (16) found that the vapour concentration in areas remote from the spray line increased gradually up to 10 hours after the spraying. Increasing temperature was undoubtedly the major explanation for this. Other factors such as volatility of the pesticide, windspeed and sorption properties of the target would also influence the actual vapour concentration on the target.

Derive the location of the attack area from NBC 1 chemical report. (A number of reports may need to be evaluated). Plot the attack area or spray line on the map. 

Draw 1-km-radius circles around the beginning point and endpoint of the spray line. 

Locations in the reactor system, in addition to the reactor pressure vessel, that are primary concerns for thermal shock include the pressurizer spray line and the purification system.

Several processing concerns can result in poor coating uniformity. Guns positioned or operated such that spray patterns overlap too much or too little will result in over wetted or under wetted areas of the spray line. Also, spray should extent all the way to near the edges of the bed. Any shortcomings in gnn placement can affect coating uniformity depending on the extent that particle/tablet... 

The 42-in. and 30-in. pipe diameter are selected to obtain coolant velocities which provide a reasonable balance between erosion-corrosion, pressure drop, and system volume. The surge line is sized to limit the frictional pressure loss through it during the maximum in-surge so that the pressure differential between the pressurizer and the heat transfer loops is no more than 5 percent of the system design pressure. The spray line sizing is discussed in Section 5.4.10. 

The pressurizer, as shown in Figure 5.4.10-1, is a vertically mounted, bottom supported, cylindrical pressure vessel. Replaceable direct immersion electric heaters are vertically mounted in the bottom head. The pressurizer is furnished with nozzles for the spray, surge, and safety lines, and pressure and level instrumentation. A manway is provided in the top head for access for inspection of the pressurizer internals. The pressurizer surge line is connected to one of the reactor coolant hot legs and the spray lines are connected to two of the cold legs cit the reactor coolant pump discharge. Heaters are... 

The maximum allowable pressure drop through the pressurizer spray line piping only is 19 psi at a total flow rate of 375 gpm and at a water temperature of 565 F. 

The pressurizer is a vertical, cylindrical vessel with semi-spherical upper and lower heads. The matrix material of the pressurizer is SA508-III low alloy carbon steel. The internal surface is clad with stainless steel, A spray line connection nozzle, a relief valve connection nozzle and two safety valve connection nozzles are provided in the upper head. An access port on the upper head is provided for inspecting the spray nozzle. The replaceable electric heating elements are located on the lower head. The surge line connection nozzle is located on the lower head.

Sprayed linings of cement mortar may be used to protect the interior of the steel primary linings. Acoustical lining may be sprayed directly to the primary lining or on a sprayed mortar lining for the reduction of train noise in rapid transit tunnels, particularly adjacent to the stations.

Earlier reported cracks (prior to 1975) occurred primarily in 4-inch diameter recirculation loop bypass lines and in 10-inch diameter core spray lines. Cracking is most often detected during ISI using UT techniques. Some piping cracks have been discovered as a result of primary coolant leaks. 

IGSCC damage cannot be bounded by methods given in NRC Bulletin 80-13 [6.3] and plant specific ageing management of the core spray internal piping is required. If continued operation with un-repaired cracked internal core spray lines is pursued, a plant specific safety evaluation will need to be performed to demonstrate that plant safety is not compromised.
