Constraint space

Although one can design flexures with quite extreme ratios of stiffness, often the design is also hmited by various space constraints, limits to allowed deflections, required load carrying capacity, and the need to avoid buckling. [Pg.58]

Space constraints do not allow detailed discussions of the world of parasites, and clinicians and students are directed to some excellent resources for further details on parasites and parasitic diseases.1,2 Discussion in this chapter will include those parasitic diseases that are more likely to be seen in the United States and will include gastrointestinal parasites (primarily giardiasis and amebiasis), protozoan infections (malaria and South American trypanosomiasis), some common helminthic... [Pg.1140]

Iron and manganese levels in the influent water may also limit the use of GAC. They will precipitate onto the carbon during treatment. If this happens, head losses will increase rapidly, the removal of organics will be hindered, and the carbon filter may eventually get clogged, making it ineffective and increasing cost substantially, or impractical due to space constraints. If these elements are present at concentration levels above 5 mg/L, they must be removed prior to GAC treatment. [Pg.726]

I apologize to anyone whose work has received inadequate discussion here because of space constraints. I am grateful to Richard Roy, Michael Krause, and Paul Sternberg for helpful discussions. Work in my laboratory is supported by... [Pg.212]

With apologies to authors whose relevant work was excluded because of space constraints, we conclude that the use of photoaffinity/ proteomic strategies in connection with drug function has gained significant momentum from the availability of proteomic analytical methods. [Pg.357]

In a recent report, the divergent solid-phase synthesis of nucleic acid dendrimers was also reported and the purity assessed using PAGE [24], however, the details are not included here due to space constraints. [Pg.248]

(Modified nitrogen, indicating the anchoring point on from Thomas et al. [58].) the tether (c) schematic diagram of the chiral... [Pg.183]

During his time at Reading, Richardson began his first successful incursions into the selective esterification of many common sugars, but it was at QEC that this work really took off, and the procedure was applied to many disaccharides, often with remarkable results. While space constraints prevent a complete discussion of all Richardson s work on the selective esterification of mono- and disaccharides, some highlights are recorded here. [Pg.21]

The second box contains a peristaltic pump and a servoactuator. Both the pump and servo are controlled electrically from the sensing head and are powered from the same power supply. The separation of the sensing head from the pump and servo provide electrical and mechanical isolation and address space constraints associated with mounting the system on the autonomous underwater vehicle. The peristaltic pump enables operation at a variable flow rate and has bidirectional flow capability. The servo actuates a movable sample inlet tube that can be raised or lowered by remote control to enable precise positioning of the inlet relative to the source or in the source plume. [Pg.138]

With a goal of trying to be as comprehensive as possible considerable numbers of references have been included, along with much more detail than was present in CHEC-II(1996). Nevertheless, space constraints have dictated that virtually all of the patent literature be excluded. [Pg.342]

There have been numerous specific reactions attributed to nitrenium ions over the years. Space constraints prohibit an exhaustive catalogue, so that the reactions described below should be understood to be typical examples that highlight important trends, rather than a comprehensive listing. In particular, we emphasize reactions where the involvement of the nitrenium ion has been well established or at least widely acknowledged. As noted above, there are numerous reactions of electrophilic nitrogen species in which the involvement of a nitrenium ion is possible but where the data are insufficient to permit any firm conclusion. Interested readers are encouraged to consult the Additional Reading section for further examples. [Pg.619]

Finally, a word in defense of our decision to make extensive use of abbreviations in this book. Space constraints motivated us to create a register of acronyms and make extensive use of abbreviations. This is likely to require you to check occasionally for abbreviations with which you might be unfamiliar. We thank you for your understanding in this regard. [Pg.7]

We present some pictures of ( a, b], 3)-maps, especially when full classification was undertaken. However, space constraints prevent us from showing all that we would have liked and we refer to [DuDe06] for more information. [Pg.183]

Space constraints have prevented a totally comprehensive survey of hydrazide ligands but hopefully the wide range of bonding and chemistry possible has been demonstrated. The continuing intense interest in inorganic nitrogen fixation should ensure further interesting developments in this area of coordination chemistry. [Pg.151]

As before, due to space constraints, the refined structure coordinates are not listed in the printed version of this Collection. An electronic PDF version of this Collection, complete with coordinates, can be found at ... [Pg.8]

Several excellent reviews currently exist on particular aspects of marine chemical ecology,1-6 so this chapter does not attempt to provide a comprehensive or historic overview, but rather tries to provide a sound conceptual discussion of the diversity and importance of chemically mediated interactions involving mobile invertebrates. Due to space constraints, not all relevant studies can be included, and recent studies are sometimes cited in favor of more classical work, as these provide similar conceptual information but often use more advanced methodologies and provide greater access to other literature on the topic. Where possible, this chapter highlights studies that assess the importance of chemically mediated interactions within the broader context of ecology and evolutionary biology. [Pg.158]
