Site Planning

Site plan is a scaled drawing, including the roadway system for adjacent areas and auxiUaries and the space requirements for the processing faciUty.

Enter the latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates of your facility. Sources of these data include EPA permits (e.g., NPDES permits), county properly records, lacility blueprints, and site plans. Instaictions on how to develop these coordinates can be found in Appendix F. Enter only numerical data. Do not preface numbers with letters such as N or W to denote the hemisphere. 

Both emergeney and aeute, nonemergeney medieal treatment should be available at the worksite. The plan should be integrated with the overall site plan and the surrounding eommunity emergeney and disaster plan. In addition, input from and review by the oeeupational medieine physi-eian and health and safety personnel is invaluable for developing the medieal and emergeney preparedness portions of the plan. 

Eor example, at Site G, no rationale was provided for using modified Level C PPE for a few jobs for whieh use of a half-mask respirator is permitted. Additionally, the Site E site plan did not eontain any site-speeifie PPE information that employees eould use for site tasks and operations. 

Signiflcant deficiencies in site control procedures existed at Site K. For example, the Site K subcontractor had not established a contamination reduction zone (CRZ), to physically separate the support zone from the exclusion zone, as required in the site plan. 

Air and natural gas are often used as a drilling fluid with no additives placed in the injected stream of compressed fluid. This type of drilling is also often referred to as dusting because great dust clouds are created around the drill rig when no formation water was present. However, modern air and gas drilling operations utilize a spray at the end of the blooey line to control the dust ejected from the well. Figure 4-185 shows a typical site plan for air drilling operations.

Explosion consequences in terms of overpressure and other effects may be evaluated by appropriate methods such as those described in Reference 5 and Appendix A. In evaluating the consequences of potential explosions, all these methods account for the energy of the explosion, the location of the explosion source, and attenuation of explosion effects with distance from the explosion source. From such an evaluation, maximum blast parameters can be determined at all locations of interest. Evaluation results can be graphically expressed by plotting contours of equal blast overpressure on a site plan of the facility, as shown in Figure 4.4.

Several recovery scenarios were considered for remediation. Initially, construction of a narrow, permeable trench parallel to the canal appeared to be an appropriate interception system. The construction technique considered was use of a specially designed deep trenching unit. This type of trench would have included a tile drain leading to a single two-pump recovery well. However, a review of the subsurface site plans and interviews with long-term employees determined that an unknown number of buried pipes traverse the area intended for the trench construction. Disruption of refining operations and safety considerations resulted in rejection of this option.

The exam bulletin will tell you when and where your exam is being held. Do you know how to get to the testing site Do you know how long it will take you to get there If not, make a trial run, preferably on the same day of the week and at the same time of day. Make note, on the Final Preparations worksheet, of the amount of time it will take you to get to the exam site. Plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early so you can get the lay of the land, use the bathroom, and calm down. Then figure out how early you will have to get up that morning, and make sure you get up that early every day for a week before the exam.
