To maintain a steady and uniform temperature within the cylinder the surface of the disks or rouleaux must not be allowed to cool during cutting or other operations preceding loading. To prevent such cooling, in many factories the powder sheets are cut or rolled on tables heated with hot water and the material is then immediately loaded into the cylinders of the press. If the disks or rouleaux should happen to cool down, the tubes extruded by the die are uneven, often shredded, and should be rejected. 

Wood pulp (high alpha type) in roll or sheet form is shredded to permit tapid penetration of ihe pulp by the reactants.

Cooked, unexpanded cold-formed pellets, as described under TPS, are further processed into flakes or shredded products by rolling and roasting (Fig. 14.26). Multi-grain flakes, which cannot be produced in conventional cookers, can also be produced by this process. 

Most surfaces of this kind now are laid on a sub-base of hard core, tarmac, or concrete in which has been installed adequate drainage for surface water over this is spread a shock-absorbing layer of porous rubber crumb, made from shredded tyres bonded together as flexible planar material of thickness 5 to 25 mm and supplied in the form of continuous rolls. The rubber layer may be laid loose or pegged, and sometimes is bonded to the sub-base with a moisture-curing polyurethane adhesive.

This is the most popular way of consuming table tortillas. Soft tortillas are filled with refried beans, shredded meat ot poultry, eggs, guacamole, and vegetables. (JuesadiHas are tacos filled with cheese, while sincronizadas contain a combination of cheese and ham. Tacos are generally rolled or simply folded. 

Tortillas are filled with shredded meat, rolled into small cylinders, and fried until crisp. Guacamole or mashed avocado paste, sour cream, dilferent cheeses, and vegetables are usually spread on top of the flautas.
