Shipments direct

Drop-shipping requires a certain investment from the wholesaler, since she should be able to handle small shipments directly to the customer. In addition, there are costs associated with taking inventory risk. This would lead the wholesaler to demand an increase in the wholesale price, resulting in, as the last observation shows, capturing more profits, which is beneficial in the long run. [Pg.632]

About a quarter of the volume of shipments is shipped to customers directly. These are larger shipments such as full pallets for larger customers - for which there is no need to consolidate with other shipments. As a result it is cheaper and quicker to make these shipments directly. [Pg.115]

Manufacture, Shipment, and Analysis. In the United States, sodium and potassium thiocyanates are made by adding caustic soda or potash to ammonium thiocyanate, followed by evaporation of the ammonia and water. The products are sold either as 50—55 wt % aqueous solutions, in the case of sodium thiocyanate, or as the crystalline soHds with one grade containing 5 wt % water and a higher assay grade containing a maximum of 2 wt % water. In Europe, the thiocyanates may be made by direct sulfurization of the corresponding cyanide. The acute LD q (rat, oral) of sodium thiocyanate is 764 mg/kg, accompanied by convulsions and respiratory failure LD q (mouse, oral) is 362 mg/kg. The lowest pubhshed toxic dose for potassium thiocyanate is 80—428 mg/kg, with hallucinations, convulsions, or muscular weakness. The acute LD q (rat, oral) for potassium thiocyanate is 854 mg/kg, with convulsions and respiratory failure. [Pg.152]

Chemical Precipitation. The product of the extraction processes, whether derived from acid or carbonate leach, is a purified uranium solution that may or may not have been upgraded by ion exchange or solvent extraction. The uranium ia such a solution is concentrated by precipitation and must be dried before shipment. Solutions resulting from carbonate leaching are usually precipitated directly from clarified leach Hquors with caustic soda without a concentration step, as shown ia equation 9. [Pg.318]

Alfalfa dehydration is carried out in a direct-fired rotary dryer. The dried product is transported pneumatically to an air cooler and then to a collecting cyclone. The collected particles are ground or pelletized and then packaged for shipment. The major atmospheric emission from the process is particulate matter, which is controlled by baghouses. Odors may also be a problem, but they disperse rapidly and are no longer a problem at distances of over 1 km. [Pg.511]

Import is defined as causing the chemical to be imported into the customs territory of the United States. If you order a covered toxic chemical (or a mixture containing the chemical) from a foreign supplier, then you have imported the chemical when that shipment arrives at your facility directly from a source outside of the United States. By ordering the chemical, you have caused it to be imported," even though you may have used an import brokerage firm as an agent to obtain the chemical. [Pg.25]

The customer will advise on the format of the advanced shipment notification (ASN). A computerized system will give you flexibility such that you are able to transmit the information immediately the shipment is loaded. You could use a fax machine as your backup since transmission is nearly as fast but this is likely to present the customer with data-handling problems. A computerized transmission feeds the data directly onto the customer database, by-passing the manual data-entry stage. Your backup system should do the same in order that your customer perceives no noticeable change in the information. [Pg.487]

Truck transportation is used to move coal to a transloader for placement onto a water or rail carrier, or for direct shipment to the customer. Trucks have the advantage of routing flexibility and modest capital rcquircliiclits, but coal can be ccoiiniiiically transported for at most about 100 miles (160 km) one-way nr less, due to the high unit cost of moving a low-value product in relatively small batches. [Pg.264]

QA is an important aspect of any technical study. It is particularly crucial in an LSMBS, because several hundred participants, widely separated geographically, are involved. The analytical laboratories typically have standard provisions for QA inspections and reviews, and the field phase management organization is also likely to have standard provisions for QA inspection and review. Shoppers, however, are typically external to study management and analytical laboratories and, thus, are not directly covered by existing QA systems. The study design must include a means by which the field phase, i.e., sample collection and shipment by the shoppers, is made to comply with QA requirements. [Pg.246]

If reasonable doubt exists as to effectiveness or safety when proposed directions and precautions are followed, preparations should be handled only on an experimental basis. Shipments for experimental use only are exempt from the penalties of the law if used under the supervision of any federal or state agency authorized by law to conduct research in the field of economic poisons, or by others if a permit has been obtained from the department before shipment. [Pg.18]

Marketers Used oil marketers are handlers who either (1) direct shipments of used oil to be burned as fuel in regulated devices (i.e., boilers, industrial furnaces, and incinerators) or (2) claim that used oil to be burned for energy recovery is on-specification. A marketer must already be a used oil generator, transporter, processor, rerefiner, or burner. [Pg.443]

In contrast to the 1980s, direct shipments by air from Colombia to the USA are diminishing and accounted for less than 1 per cent of all cocaine shipments to the USA in 2005.18 In total, about 11 per cent of all cocaine destined for the USA entered the country by air in 2005.19... [Pg.74]

The most frequently mentioned transit country of cocaine shipments to Africa is Brazil, ahead of Colombia, Peru and Venezuela. The authorities in Guinea estimate that 60 per cent of the cocaine comes into their waters via Brazil, and 40 per cent directly from Colombia31. [Pg.77]

Shipment and Storage. Sulfur dichloride, if kept dry, is noncorrosive at ambient temperatures, thus carbon steel and iron can be used in the construction of tanks, piping, and drums. However, when water or humidity is present, materials resistant to hydrochloric acid must be used, eg, glass-lined pipe, Teflon, titanium, Hastelloy C, or possibly a chemically resistant, glass-reinforced polyester. Threaded pipe joints should be assembled with Teflon tape. Hoses should be constructed with a Teflon inner lining with the outer tube constructed of Neoprene or braided 316 stainless steel protected by an adequate thickness of Teflon. Sulfur dichloride should be stored away from heat and away from direct rays of the sum. Toluene and sulfur dichloride react exothermically when catalyzed by iron or ferric chloride. Safety precautions should be followed when such a mixture is present (165). [Pg.139]
