The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports monthly prices for chemicals in its wholesale price index series. The chemicals and allied products group is made up of chemicals, drug and pharmaceutical materials, fertilizer and mixed fertilizer materials, and oils and fats. The bureau has announced a revision of its wholesale price index beginning with January 1952 prices. The January report contains figures on the revised basis back to January 1947, with the revised series linked to that early month. In the revised index, the Bureau of Labor Statistics is using the 1947 to 1949 period as representing 100 instead of 1926 as had been the case. For the first time, plastics will be included in the Bureau of Labor Statistics wholesale price index. Other important items developed during or since the end of World War II are included in the new index. 

When more than one metal is present in an organometallic complex rather different electrochemical behaviour is possible. For example, metal-metal bonds can function as electron sinks so that extended redox series, linked by sequential one-electron transfer steps, may become available. In addition, the paramagnetic members of such series may show unusual properties associated with mix valency. Here we describe not only the reactions of binuclear species which undergo two or more sequential electron-transfer reactions but also a study of the bonding in alkyne-bridged binuclear species. 

A rope is in the reliability state subset 1,2,3, 2,3, 3, if all 6 strand are in this subset, so it is a series system. After some consultations with experts we assume that a strand does not satisfy technical conditions after breaking 6 of its 36 wires. With this assumption we conclude that a rope is in the reliability state subset 1,2,3, 2,3, 3, when all six strands of a rope are in this state subset and each of strands is in the reliability state subset 1,2,3, 2,3, 3, if at least 30 out of its 36 wires are in this state subset. Thus, we obtain that a rope is a regular 4-states 30 out of 36 -series system composed of k = 6 series-linked strands with 1=36 parallel-linked components (wires). As each broaching machine has only one rope we can say that broaching machines i.e. subsystems Si, Sj, S, are also regular 4-state 30 out of 36 -series systems. 

The type of development, type and number of development wells, recovery factor and production profile are all inter-linked. Their dependency may be estimated using the above approach, but lends itself to the techniques of reservoir simulation introduced in Section 8.4. There is never an obvious single development plan for a field, and the optimum plan also involves the cost of the surface facilities required. The decision as to which development plan is the best is usually based on the economic criterion of profitability. Figure 9.1 represents a series of calculations, aimed at determining the optimum development plan (the one with the highest net present value, as defined in Section 13).

Truncating this series after the first derivative and integrating provides the basis for the hermodynamic integration approach. Moreover, if the Taylor series expansion is continued intil it converges then Equation (11.45) is equivalent to the thermodynamic perturbation brmula, so providing a link between the two approaches. In practice, it is always necessary... 

The functionality available in MedChem Explorer is broken down into a list of available computational experiments, including activity prediction, align/ pharmacophore, overlay molecules, conformer generation, property calculation, and database access. Within each experiment, the Web system walks the user through a series of questions that must be answered sequentially. The task is then submitted to a remote server, where it is performed. The user can view the progress of the work in their Web browser at any time. Once complete, the results of the calculation are stored on the server. The user can then run subsequent experiments starting with those results. The Web interface includes links to help pages at every step of the process. 

The next step is to develop a method to determine the overall reUabiUty and failure probabiUty for systems constmcted of a variety of individual components. This requires an understanding of how components are linked. Components are linked either in series or in parallel. For series linkages, overall failure results from the failure of any of the components. For parallel linkages, all of the components must fad. An example of a series linkage is an automobde. The car is disabled if a flat occurs in any one of the four tires. This situation is linked in parallel to the spare tire. The car is completely disabled oidy if a flat occurs and the spare tire is flat. 

Methylpyrazole has been investigated as a possible treatment for alcoholism. The stmcture—activity relationship (SAR) associated with a series of pyrazoles has been examined ia a 1992 study (51). These compounds were designed as nonprostanoid prostacyclin mimetics to inhibit human platelet aggregation. In this study, 3,4,5-triphenylpyrazole was linked to a number of alkanoic acids, esters, and amides. From the many compounds synthesized, triphenyl-IJT-pyrazole-l-nonanoic acid (80) was found to be the most efficacious candidate (IC g = 0.4 //M). 

Hydrogen chloride is produced when PVC bums. A series of tests for the Federal Aviation Administration studied this issue. In those studies, test animals were able to survive exposures to hydrogen chloride reaching 10,000 ppm (190). More recent studies indicate less of a potential for delayed effects on lung function than expected (191). In a typical fire, hydrogen chloride levels rarely exceed 300 ppm, a fact confirmed by the Boston Fire Department and Harvard University (192). In hundreds of autopsies conducted on fire victims in the United States, not one death has been linked to the presence of PVC. 

Bismaleimides are best defined as low molecular weight, at least diftinctional monomers or prepolymers, or mixtures thereof, that carry maleimide terminations (Eig. 3). Such maleimide end groups can undergo homopolymerization and a wide range of copolymerizations to form a highly cross-linked network. These cure reactions can be effected by the appHcation of heat and, if required, ia the presence of a suitable catalyst. The first patent for cross-linked resias obtained through the homopolymerization or copolymerization of BMI was granted to Rhc ne Poulenc, Erance, ia 1968 (13). Shordy after, a series of patents was issued on poly(amino bismaleimides) (14), which are synthesized from bismaleimide and aromatic diamines.
