Sequential order

A given molecular dynamics trajectory can be divided into three sequentially-ordered phases ... [Pg.313]

If 90 is added to the designated R number, the resulting single digits individually reflect, in sequential order, the number of carbon, hydrogen, and fluorine atoms present, respectively. Chlorine is deterrnined by difference, ie, the carbon valency of 4 minus number of H and F atoms. For example, R-12 12 + 90 = 102, indicating 1 carbon, 0 hydrogen, 2 fluorine, and 2 chlorine atoms by difference. [Pg.60]

Sequential design. When a particular procedure is always executed in sequential order, for example, the start-up of a distillation column, a similar sequential arrangement of the controls will help to ensiure that parts of the sequence are not omitted. [Pg.59]

In this case, the operations within a sequence are further defined according to various criteria such as whether they involve reception or transition of information, storage of information, manual control responses, inspections, and decisions. However, some other dimensions of an operation may require particular emphasis such as whether information is transmitted electronically, by external communication etc. A type of vertical axis can still be used to represent sequential order and if required this can incorporate the same timing information as temporal OSDs. [Pg.175]

Figure 10. Electron shell closure fails to coincide with the dosing of periods in the periodic table because the shells do not fill in strictly sequential order As shown here, die fourth shell begins to fill before the third shell has been completed. The resumption of third-shHl filling accounts for the appearance of the first transition-metal series, beginning with scandium and ending with zinc. Figure 10. The eukaryotic somatic cell cycle is defined by a sequential order of tasks a dividing cell has to complete it must replicate its DNA, segregate its chromosomes, grow, and divide. The cell cycle can be divided into four discrete phases. DNA replication is restricted to S phase (DNA synthesis phase), which is preceded by a gap phase called G1 and followed by a gap phase called G2. During mitosis (M phase) the sister chromatids are segregated into two new daughter nuclei and mitosis is completed by the division of the cytoplasm termed cytokinesis (Fig. 1). [Pg.340]

These operations are repeated again and again in different sequential order until the 1C fabrication is completed. At the same time, they are not the actual steps needed to form the individual dice. We will address these later on after we have described the individual operations used in performing each step in the IC manufacturing process. It is very important to distinguish between manufacturing operations and manufacturing steps. [Pg.321]

The sequence of questions on a test is very important. If the first few questions are very difficult, the person being tested may get discouraged and do poorly throughout. The reverse may happen if the first few questions are easy. Even when there are no correct answers, the sequential order is important. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) consists of over 500 questions. Many of these questions are not used in any evaluation. However, if these questions were eliminated, the responses obtained for the other questions would be different. [Pg.381]

Combining both heating and nonheating protocols employed in a sequential order were evaluated, but without any advantage (Fig. 3.4). RT-PCR was performed by standard methods, RNA extracted from fresh MDA cells and human tissue of breast cancer with known tested genes was used as positive control, and pure water was used to replace template (cDNA) as negative control for every experiment of PCR. To assure the accuracy of PCR tests, all reactions were performed in triplicate. [Pg.62]

Sequencing is determining the sequential order of DNA bases in a given piece of DNA. [Pg.86]

The sequential order of the ZXX, XZX and XXZ (laboratory reference frame) polarization labels is important only to the extent that frequency dispersion affects the magnitude of the elements of... [Pg.117]

Columns should be arranged from left to right so that there is a logical sequential order to the contents of an entry as it is made. An example would be date/time/animal number/ body weight/name of the recorder. The last item for each entry should be the name or unique initials of the individual who made the data entry. [Pg.883]

The currently used (R,S)-nomenclature of asymmetric C-atoms and similar tetracoordinate configurations is based upon the sequential order of the ligands derived from the CIP rules. If one orients an asymmetric C-atom in such a manner that the fourth ligand points backwards, the indices of the first three ligands of an (I )-configuration increase in a clockwise pattern, and counterclockwise for an (S)-configuration. [Pg.29]

Equation 11.40 is a special case of a more general mechanism discussed below in which substrates bind to the enzyme randomly. However, to finish discussion of the sequential ordered mechanism, Equation 11.37, we simplify as before, by assuming that binding processes are isotopically insensitive. Equation 11.39 becomes ... [Pg.353]

Instrnments combining several analyzers in sequential order are very common. This combination allows mass spectrometry and mass spectrometry experiments (MS/MS) to be carried out. Modern MS/MS includes many different experiments designed to generate substructural information or to qnantitate componnds at trace levels. A triple quadru-pole mass spectrometer allows one to obtain a daughter ion mass spec-trnm resnlting from the decomposition of a parent ion selected in the first qnadrnpole. The MS/MS experiments using an FTICR or ion trap, however, are carried ont in a time-resolved manner rather than by spatial resolntion. [Pg.515]

TTie TOCSY 2D NMR experiment correlates all protons of a spin system, not just those directly connected via three chemical bonds. For the protein example, the alpha proton, Ft , and all the other protons are able to transfer magnetization to the beta, gamma, delta, and epsilon protons if they are connected by a continuous chain—that is, the continuous chain of protons in the side chains of the individual amino acids making up the protein. The COSY and TOCSY experiments are used to build so-called spin systems—that is, a list of resonances of the chemical shift of the peptide main chain proton, the alpha proton(s), and all other protons from each aa side chain. Which chemical shifts correspond to which nuclei in the spin system is determined by the conventional correlation spectroscopy connectivities and the fact that different types of protons have characteristic chemical shifts. To connect the different spin systems in a sequential order, the nuclear Overhauser effect spectroscopy... [Pg.114]
