In the early 1970s, the first companies to apply low cost, mass production techniques to photovoltaics, a technology that had previously been considered an exotic aerospace technology, emerged. These techniques included the use of electroplated and screen printed metal paste electrical conductors, reflow soldered ribbon interconnects, and by 1977, low cost, automobile windshield-style, laminated module constmction. Such processes benefitted from a substantial existing industrial infrastmcture, and have become virtually ubiquitous in the present PV industry. [Pg.470]

Image Carriers for Stencil Processes. There are two stencil processes in general use screen printing and stencil dupHcating. Screen printing used for art reproduction is called seriography. [Pg.50]

In the microelectronics industry, powdered metals and insulating materials that consist of noimoble metals and oxides are deposited by screen printing in order to form coatings with high resistivities and low temperature coefficients of resistance. This technique may be useful in depositing oxide—metal refractory coatings. [Pg.46]

Ultraviolet cross-linking of PVA with dichromates is the basis for its use in photoengraving, screen printing, printed circuit manufacture, and color-television tube manufacture. [Pg.489]

Other small molecule species decompose and volatilise. The glass frit fuses, wetting the surface of the functional phase, providing adhesion and sealing of the composite to the substrate. Because of the screen printing process, resolution is modest. Fired film thicknesses, which range from 10 to 50 p.m (0.4 to 2.0 mils), are large compared to thin-fHm microelectronics. Some photosensitive pastes are also ia use. [Pg.126]

Moreover, disposable electrochemical sensors for the detection of a specific sequence of DNA were realised by immobilising synthetic single-stranded oligonucleotides onto a graphite or a gold screen-printed electrode. Tire probes became hybridised with different concentrations of complementary sequences present in the sample. [Pg.15]

Screen-printed gold electrodes were, firstly, modified with a mixed monolayer of a 25-mer thiol-tethered DNA probe and a spacer thiol, 6-mercapto-1 -hexanol (MCH). The DNA probe sequence was internal to the sequence of the 35S promoter, which sequence is inserted in the genome of GMOs regulating tire transgene expression. [Pg.15]

Biosensors ai e widely used to the detection of hazardous contaminants in foodstuffs, soil and fresh waters. Due to high sensitivity, simple design, low cost and real-time measurement mode biosensors ai e considered as an alternative to conventional analytical techniques, e.g. GC or HPLC. Although the sensitivity and selectivity of contaminant detection is mainly determined by a biological component, i.e. enzyme or antibodies, the biosensor performance can be efficiently controlled by the optimization of its assembly and working conditions. In this report, the prospects to the improvement of pesticide detection with cholinesterase sensors based on modified screen-printed electrodes are summarized. The following opportunities for the controlled improvement of analytical characteristics of anticholinesterase pesticides ai e discussed ... [Pg.295]

In this work, simple (single-use) biosensors with a layer double stranded (ds) calf thymus DNA attached to the surface of screen-printed carbon electrode assembly have been prepared. The sensor efficiency was significantly improved using nanostructured films like carbon nanotubes, hydroxyapatite and montmorillonite in the polyvinylalcohol matrix. [Pg.297]

AN AMPEROMETRIC ENZYME IMMUNOSENSOR BASED ON SCREEN-PRINTED ELECTRODE FOR THE DETERMINATION OF KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIAE BACTERIAL ANTIGEN... [Pg.329]

The aim of our investigation was the development of the amperometric enzyme immunosensor for the determination of Klebsiella pneumoniae bacterial antigen (Ag), causes the different inflammatory diseases. The biosensing pail of the sensors consisted of the enzyme (cholinesterase) and antibodies (Ab) immobilized on the working surface of the screen-printed electrode. Bovine seiaim albumin was used as a matrix component. [Pg.329]

Pressure sensitive adhesives can be coated on a substrate such as a polyester or paper backing to make a tape or label, or on a release liner to make a transfer adhesive, or a special substrate to make a graphic film or retro-reflective sheeting product. In some cases, where precision placement of the PSA is required, one may also coat directly on the substrate using techniques such as screen-printing. [Pg.511]
