Chemical Leasing is a service-oriented business model that shifts the focus from increasing sales volume of chemicals towards a value-added approach. The producer mainly sells the functions performed by the chemical and functional units2 are the main basis for payment. [Pg.14]

Traditionally, chemicals are sold to customers, who use them to fulfil certain functions. Their suppliers have a clear economic interest in increasing the amount of chemicals sold ("The more you sell, the more you earn"). Typically their earnings increase if they sell chemicals at higher prices or to larger amounts. Higher prices, however, are difficult to be achieved due to international competition. So a main focus is set on higher sales volumes. This is in many cases related to problematic releases to the environment and to negative consequence for the future availability of resources. [Pg.17]

Next, focus on products handled by the supply chain and verify if the supply process matches product characteristics. If all SKUs are sorted in order of decreasing sales (i.e., from the highest to lowest sales levels) and the cumulative sales are plotted vs. the corresponding ranking of products, the data usually generates a Pareto distribution. Products can thus be divided into three categories A products that represent 20% of the products but 80% of the sales volume, B products that represent 30% of the products and 15% of the sales volume, C products that represent 50% of the products and 5% of the sales volume. [Pg.21]

A formal customer service policy exists, and customers have been segmented along specific groups based on sales volume, market channel or local market criteria, but no process is used to build a fact-driven, customer-focused solution. There is no dedicated customer service structure in place. Commercial area is perceived as the mainly function responsible to deliver the customer service goals. [Pg.136]

Product sales volume can shape assortment strategy, although occasionally in contrasting ways. Perhaps seeking the advantages of focus, Macy s... [Pg.590]

Revenue A focus on supply chain effectiveness drives up reliability and responsiveness, both of which can increase a company s level of quality and service. Company characteristics such as these increase revenue in two ways increased sales volume and better yet, increased revenue per unit sold. Two specific ways to improve revenue are... [Pg.228]

This relatively stable system now faces increasing volatility and complexity due to volatile demand and raw material prices as well as globalization in markets and company networks. Specifically, price-volatile commodity products within the chemical industry require planning volumes together with values across sales to procurement. In this context, the work of Matthias Kannegiesser focuses on two research questions ... [Pg.5]

Concluding, existing definitions use value chain management as alternative term for supply chain management focusing on supply volume decisions to fulfil a given demand and minimize costs. Especially, value and sales decisions are not covered in an integrated framework. [Pg.55]

Customer order schedules need to be integrated with deliveries, production orders and procurement orders. Volumes and values are already defined. Therefore, the focus is on a time schedule of orders considering production and distribution lead times. Fig. 21 illustrates the main task in value chain operations also now focused on a geographical region such as Europe. The individual schedules of sales orders and purchase orders have to be integrated with distribution and production schedules. [Pg.63]

Commodity-related models focus on demand volatility and uncertainty in volumes and prices as with sales quantity flexibility. Several authors proposed models to handle demand uncertainty in general focusing on quantities (Cheng et al. 2003 Gupta/Maranas 2003 Cheng et al. 2004 Chen/Lee 2004). Uncertainty is reflected by demand quantity scenarios and/or probabilities. Proposed models maximize expected or robust profit. Process industry-specific models use simulation to address demand uncertainty and to determine optimal inventory levels (Jung et al. 2004). [Pg.128]

Commodity-oriented models focus more on the market interfaces in sales and procurement and consider less complexity in the supply chain determining volumes and values in the value chain integration with production planning and chemical-specifics often not modeled... [Pg.129]

The purpose of this chapter is to examine two main aspects of Marx s reproduction model. The first concerns the way in which sales of commodities are realized in the reproduction and circulation of commodities. Whereas in volume 1 of Capital the focus is on the production of value, on the assumption that each individual good is automatically sold, in volume 2 the market place is introduced. For Mandel (1978 14), in his introduction to the Penguin edition of volume 2, we have to understand the inner connection between the production of value and its realization. Commodities have to be sold, whether wage goods purchased by workers or means of production purchased by other capitalists. Reproduction can only take place if in aggregate... [Pg.6]

A number of the major automakers have stated their intention to begin selling - or expanding sales of - fuel cell passenger vehicles. Toyota plans to offer about 20 hybrid fuel cell SUVs based on its Highlander platform. Nissan has announced plans to start selling a fuel cell vehicle, and Ford Motor Company said it would offer a fuel cell version of the Focus in low-volume production for small fleet operations. Other FCVs include the CM Opel HydroCen 3, the Hyundai Santa Fe FCEV, and the Nissan Xterra FCV, the DaimlerChrysler Necar 5, and Daihatsu s Move FCV-K-2. [Pg.38]
