Safety working groups

John Griffin was the director of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry from 1984 to 1994. During this time he was a member of the Executive Board of the European Federation of the Pharmaceutical Industries Associations and IFPMA. He chaired the ICH Safety Working Group from 1988 to 1994 and presented papers at ICHl and ICH2 in the plenary sessions.

Recently, the VICH has completed the development of a Safety Working Group, which is responsible for evaluating the safety of residues of veterinary drugs in human food. 

Consider establishing employee safety committees with union representation (if there are unions at the plant). Consider also setting up a plant process safety working group. 

The European Commission has nuclear organisations that have never appeared to achieve the regulatory significance or influence of their coal and steel activities. Euratom issues directives on radiation protection, and an independent committee coordinate codes and standards. In addition, there are safety working groups on fast reactor technology. 

The safety working group should therefore focus on blockages of the port and starboard static ports either together, or with the associated ADC.

At the working level, system safety tasks are normally performed by a system safety working group (SSWG). One of the reasons that a system safety working group or a team approach is generally used in system safety efforts is that multiple talents and disciplines are required in order to provide for the first-time safe, efficient operation of the entire system (Fig. 2-6). 

A system safety working group should have representatives from at least four groups or communities. Name them and discuss the skills or knowledge that each representative brings to the system safety effort.

An effective system safety working group includes representatives from levels three, four, five, and six (U.S. Air Force 1987).

The PHL is normally prepared by the system safety working group and reviewed by management review boards. 

An accident analysis report may be prepared by the system safety working group and/or an independent accident investigation board. The recommended method for serious accidents is for the SSWG to prepare an accident analysis report based on its own investigation and upon the findings of the traditional accident report prepared by the accident investigation board. 

Members of the system safety planning group normally become members of a system safety working group or safety review board.

Normally, a separate system safety working group (SSWG) is designated for each project. In some situations, however, one SSWG may successfully participate in multiple projects.
