Safety technology quality

Food safety. From the perspective of technological quality, safety is the major issue, as control of safety during processing and distribution of meat products according to legislation calls for high safety demands. Additionally, safety refers to the shelf life of meat products.

E-nose technology is still in development and so far has only had a limited commercial application. This is dne to the instrnment need to be trained and optimized for the sensing application it is reqnired for and to be able to distinguish between samples before it can be used. The technology is still for qualitative rather than quantitative application. However, the E-nose systems has a recognize advantage in use in areas as safety and quality monitoring. 

Helene Cecilie Blakstad is Senior Safety and Quality Advisor in the Norwegian National Rail Administration. From 2006 until 2012, she worked as a Senior Scientist at SINTEF Technology and Society, Department of Safety Research. Earlier, she worked within occupational health services and with the Norwegian Labour Inspectorate. She has a PhD on adapting hierarchical and risk-based approaches to safety rule modifications in the Norwegian railway system. 

We are now at a transitional point in the book between the understanding and analysis of incidents and the coining chapters, which discuss methods of prevention and quality improvement. The seven-levels framework has outlined the patient, task and technology, staff, team, working environment, organizational and institutional environmental factors that are revealed in analyses of incidents. These same factors also point to the means of intervention and different levels on which safety and quality must be addressed, which we will explore systematically as the book unfolds.

Food Safety and Quality Service This organization ensures that foods for human consumption are safe, wholesome, nutritious, and of good quality. It sets standards for and inspects meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products, and fresh and processed fruit and vegetables. At times, the inspection methods change to respond to public concern and make better use of knowledge and technology.
