Security of data has become an important consideration. With the expanded use of the Internet, unauthorized individuals may gain access to private and confidential information found in safety software and applications. It is illegal to make some personal information available. Examples are human resource information, medical information, and other data that may link to accident and injury or illness cases. One kind of security involves keeping secure data and information on computers that do not link to other applications. Another kind of security involves encryption techniques for secure data and information. When data and applications reside in other locations, the communicafion interfaces must be secure along with the remote computer systems themselves. 

Professional safety practice today involves aspects of engineering, business, health, education, laws and regulations, human behavior, education and training and computer and internet technologies. They use qualitative and quantitative analysis of simple and complex products, systems, operations, and activities to identify hazards. 

The endemic weakness of computer systems relies on the fact that at the functional level, the level of safety is actually based on quality assurance implemented during its development. The constraints imposed by standards [CEN 00 CEN Ola CEN 03] are mainly based on the hardware architecture (probabilistic approach) and on software quahty assurance. It is paiticularly difficult to quantify the level of safety functions transcoded by a computer system, especially if it is required to be installed at different locations, while the occurrence of accidents will be more expensive due to the media, the Internet, and the high expectations of Western societies. 

Mazda and others have been working on advanced safety vehicles with monitor screens to show rear and side views, voice-interactive navigation systems and collision avoidance technology. The Ford 24.7 concept car had a computer console in the dashboard with Internet access that is voice-activated.
