Console computer

An NMR experiment is carried out as follows we select an experiment to run. We tell the NMR software on the host computer (the computer attached directly to the NMR instrument) what experiment we want to run, and the computer sends the appropriate set of instructions to the computer built into the NMR console. The two computers most often communicate via an Ethernet connection. The host computer will have a second Ethernet card dedicated to talking to the NMR console computer. These instructions will include ... 

Console computer. The computer built into the NMR console (usually one or two 19" wide electronics racks). The console computer normally communicates via an Ethernet connection with the host computer, which is the computer the NMR operator uses to initiate experiments, etc.

The instrumentation design originates from the mid 80 and most of the electronic equipment especially the console computer and the DAC computer were already outdated at the time of installation. Due to the rapid development in data acquisition technology the problem of spare part availability becomes imminent.

Mazda and others have been working on advanced safety vehicles with monitor screens to show rear and side views, voice-interactive navigation systems and collision avoidance technology. The Ford 24.7 concept car had a computer console in the dashboard with Internet access that is voice-activated.

The TRAACS 800+ shown in Fig. 2.18 consists of one or more analytical consoles, a random-access sampler and personal computer (PC). The analytical console is fitted with two peristaltic pumps which can each handle up to 10 pump tubes. The analytical manifolds are located above the pumps and utihze glass parts 1 mm in diameter, in order to keep reagent consumption low. Heating baths, UV digesters and dialysers can be built into the manifold.

Microelectronics and computer programming have allowed the printing processes to be analysed, and sensed remotely so that many of the variables in the printing are monitored, adjusted, and controlled automatically from a console. Such fundamentals as flow of ink from the duct, colour strength, ink viscosity, temperature, and humidity all are monitored and checked against pre-determined limits, so that they can be adjusted to maintain consistency of print quality.
