Screening monitoring

A fluorescence emission spectrum is generally measured by setting the excitation monochromator, Mi, to the chosen wavelength and scanning the second monochromator, M2, with constant slit width. The fluorescent screen monitor, F-P2, now serves to correct for variations in the intensity of the exciting light caused by fluctuations in lamp output. The emission spectrum so recorded has to be corrected for the spectral sensitivity of the apparatus to give the true emission spectrum. [Pg.314]

Phosphors for cathode-ray tubes, television screens, monitor screens, radar screens, and oscilloscopes are tested under electron excitation. Electron energy and density should be similar to the conditions of the tube in which the screen will be used. The phosphors are sedimented or brushed onto light-permeable screens and coated with an evaporated aluminum coating to dissipate charge. The luminescence brightness and color of the emitted light are measured with optical instruments such as photomultipliers or spectrophotometers. [Pg.263]

Waste DPE material is managed in very similar fashion at ANCDF and PBCDF. Normally, DPE suits are worn once, decontaminated with decontamination solution, and double-bagged. At ANCDF, the DPE suits are monitored using the vapor screening monitoring methodology established in the site s modified permit (see discussion earlier in this chapter). The waste DPE suits that monitor at less than 1 STL for GB or VX may then be sent to an off-site thermal treatment facility (ADEM, 2006). [Pg.69]

The central control room provides surveillance and direction for all phases of TOCDF activities. It is kept at a higher positive pressure to prevent the possibility of any agent entering it, and the air intake is doubly filtered. Several consoles Une the room, each with two advisor screen monitors, two closed-circuit TV monitors, and a keyboard through which commands are entered to control plant operations. Redundant computers, software, and plant instrumentation ensure that continuous realtime control is maintained. [Pg.87]

Fig. 9. Intensity-voltage plot (intensity versus A) of 00 beam from a clean W(112) surface (see Fig. 6d). Crystal rotated 5° around [01] axis so that specular beam could be measured (incidence brought 5" closer to [llT] surface direction). The experiment was performed in a post-acceleration tuhe and intensity on screen monitored hy telescopic photometer [data of Chang, (203, pp. 24—25)]. Heavy arrows show theoretical positions Fmax of Bragg maxima of order n calculated according to nX = n( 150.4/ Umax) = 2Uo(6) cos 5 . Identifiable Bragg maxima stand out clearly in the higher voltage range and are displaced by an inner potential of about 19 V. At lower voltage, the curve is complicated and is not well understood. Europium has not many applications. Commercial applications of europium almost always take advantage of the phosphorescence, either in the 2+, or 3+ oxidation state. Industrial application started in the 1960s (Wickersheim and Lefever 1964). Many advances have been made since, leading to the discoveiy of europium activated yttrium oxysulfide (YaOaSiEu " ). This is a red phosphor. Other main industrial phosphors doped with europium are Sr5(P04)3Cl Eu and BaMgAliiOiviEu " for blue, and Y203 Eu " for red. Green phosphors involve terbium (Tb (Caro 1998 Nazarov et al. 2004). The phosphors are for instance used in flat screen monitors and televisions. [Pg.100]

Prior research has proven the technical feasibility of fully automating a disassembly process for, among others, mobile phones (Basdere and Seliger 2003), personal computers (Torres 2004), and flat screen monitors (Kim et al. 2009). However, automating the disassembly process in an end-of-life treatment is currently limited by the variation of returned products, which requires a great capacity of recognition... [Pg.398]
