Resist materials, design

CAR materials based on blends of protected polymers, PAGs, and base quenchers that have been tested, the basic trade-off between the achievable resolution, sensitivity, and LER in a given resist material design (i.e., a particrrlar positive-tone CAR polymer platform) can be expressed as shown in eqn [4], Given the rough scaling shown in the equation, attempts to increase resolution or... [Pg.65]

As noted, the oxidation resistance of silicon nitride ceramics depends on the type and concentration of the sintering aids. In materials designed for high temperature appHcations the specific weight gain resulting from oxidation upon a 500-h air exposure at 1200°C and 1350°C is about 1—2 g/m and 2—4 g/m, respectively. The kinetics of the oxidation process have been iavestigated (63,64) as has the corrosion resistance (65). Corrosion resistance is also dependent on material formulation and density. [Pg.323]

Sometimes there is no practical, economical way to reduce deposition, protect surfaces cathodically, change design and operation, or treat existing systems chemically. A material change is required. The most economical solution usually is to coat existing structures with water-impermeable, sacrificial, or corrosion-resistant materials. [Pg.85]

In the next chapter we use this understanding to analyse the design of oxidation-resistant materials. [Pg.217]

When designing apparatus with several materials, consider all materials as an integrated entity. More highly resistant materials should be selected for the critical components and for cases in which relatively high fabrication costs are anticipated. Often, a compromise must be made between mechanically advantageous properties and corrosion resistance. [Pg.20]

Design Temperature of Outlet Piping - The design temperature of outlet piping from PR valves discharging to the atmosphere is normally ambient. However, autorefrigeration and need for brittle-fracture-resistant materials or thermal expansion forces should be examined if the release pipe is unusually long. [Pg.206]

Typical applications for nylon include small gears, bearings, bushes, sprockets, housings for power tools, terminal blocks and slide rollers. An important design consideration is that nylon absorbs moisture which can affect its properties and dimensional stability. Glass reinforcement reduces this problem and produces an extremely strong, impact resistant material. Another major application of nylon is in fibres which are notoriously strong. The density of nylon is about 1100 kg/m. ... [Pg.14]

To prevent the surrounding air from mixing with the supply air, the air shower should use air-permeable filter material with a harder, load-bearing, nonflammable outer shell and an inner layer of softer material with a high air resistance. This design requires that the supplied air be filtered. [Pg.924]

Fan, corrosion-resistant A fan constructed from materials designed to withstand the corrosive properties of the gases being carried. [Pg.1438]

At Qatar, the liquid came out with such force that it spilled over the dike wall. Conventional dike walls also have the disadvantage that a large area of liquid is exposed to the atmosphere if a leak occurs. For these reasons it is now usual to surround cryogenic storage tanks with a concrete wall, about 1 m from the tank and the full height of the tank. If the tank is not made from crack-resistant material, then the concrete wall should be designed to withstand the effects of a sudden release of liquid. [Pg.172]

Designs and/or specifies items of equipment required to define the process flowsheet or flow system specifies corrosion resistant materials of construction. [Pg.1]

For these special situations properly designed rupture disks using corrosion-resistant materials can be installed both before the valve inlet as well as on the valve discharge. For these cases, refer to both the valve manufacturer and the rupture disk manufacturers. See later discussion of code requirements for this condition. [Pg.413]

Commonly used for heating or cooling very corrosive fluids that require expensive corrosion-resistant materials. Less economical than U-tube design for in-tank heating. [Pg.240]
