Cryogenic storage tanks

At Qatar, the liquid came out with such force that it spilled over the dike wall. Conventional dike walls also have the disadvantage that a large area of liquid is exposed to the atmosphere if a leak occurs. For these reasons it is now usual to surround cryogenic storage tanks with a concrete wall, about 1 m from the tank and the full height of the tank. If the tank is not made from crack-resistant material, then the concrete wall should be designed to withstand the effects of a sudden release of liquid. [Pg.172]

For larger volumes of LPG storage, some organisations use cryogenic storage tanks which are constructed in a similar manner to tanks for the storage of LNG Giquefied natural gas). ... [Pg.98]

The piping arrangement shown in Figure 3 allows the cryogenic storage tank to be filled either from the top or bottom. Discharge is from the bottom through a seal leg. The seal leg prevents the backflow of vapor into... [Pg.115]

Two cryogenic storage tanks and atmospheric vaporizers are shown in the photograph in Figure 4 [3]. [Pg.117]

Cargo tanks are large-capacity cryogenic storage tanks either mounted on a truck body or forming a semitrailer body. The maximum capacity of these units is 11,300 U.S. gal although the most common size used to ship liquefied industrial gas products over the road is 7000 U.S. gal [2]. The truck has a high pressure liquid transfer pump on board which can fill a... [Pg.118]

These experiments used the new tank farm, which contained two 26,000-gallon cryogenic storage tanks that were connected to the spill point with 500-ft-long spill pipes which were comprised of two 12-in. insulated lines and one 6-in. insulated line (which was not used in these experiments). Each spill pipe was equipped with a control valve at each end. [Pg.522]

Multilayer insulations have been used in cryogenics first. These insulations have been embedded in cryogen storage tanks. For better imderstanding, we should know major heat transfer mechanisms in such insulations. Schematic of main heat transfer mechanism in multilayer insulations is shown in Figure 13.1. [Pg.234]

Applications. Uses for this alloy tend to be in the field of gas turbine components and cryogenic storage tanks. Examples are jet engines, pump bodies and parts, rocket motors and thrust reversers, nuclear fuel element spacers, and hot extrusion tooling. [Pg.687]
