Referent power

Two scans are required to obtain an absorption spectrum. First, a blank reference scan is taken that characterizes the broadband light source. Then a scan with the sample in place is recorded. The ratio of the sample power spectrum to the reference power spectrum is the transmission spectrum. If the source has stable output, then a single reference scan can be used with many sample scans.

In the field of acoustics and signal transmission, signal power levels and signal amplitude levels (or field levels) are usually expressed as the decadic or the napierian logarithm of the ratio of the power P to a reference power P0, or of the field F to a reference field F0. Since power is often proportional to the square of the field or amplitude (when the field acts on equal impedances) it is convenient to define the power level and the field level to be equal in such a case. P0 is a reference power, which should be specified. The factor is included in the definition to make LP LF. 

In the context of acoustics the power level is called the sound power level and given the symbol Lw, and the reference power P0 = 1 pW.

Abstract. In this paper we report on a recent study of the impact of cyberattacks on the resilience of complex indnstrial systems. We describe our approach to building a hybrid model consisting of both the system under study and an Adversary, and we demonstrate its nse on a complex case smdy - a reference power transmission network (NORDIC 32), enhanced with a detailed model of the compnter and commnnication system used for monitoring, protection and control. We studied the resihence of the modelled system under different scenarios i) a base-line scenario in which the modelled system operates in the presence of accidental failnres without cyber-attacks ii) scenarios in which cyber-attacks can occur. We discuss the usefulness of our findings and outline directions for further work. 

The system under study is shown in Fig. 1. The system model was developed by the FP7 EU project AFTER (http //www.after-project.eu/Layout/after/). It is based on a reference power transmission network, NORDIC 32, enhanced with an industrial distributed control system (IDCS) compliant with the international standard lEC... 

Some uncertainty margins exist in the fuel costs mainly because available references apply to plants operating in countries different from Italy and conditions vary from one plant to another. A full core for each of the three reactors of the reference power station has a cost that may be assumed to range between some 39 000 000 and some 51 000 000. 

The objective of the present work was to perform numerical analyses in which the effect of heat transfer from a degraded partially molten reactor core towards the upper intemals (upper shroud, standpipes, steam separator dryer) in a BWR reactor pressure vessel (RPV) would be accounted for, and the resultant failure and melting of these structures, on e composition of corium released to flie drywell following RPV failure. The calculations for this study were performed using the APRIL.MOD3 computer code, and the Peach Bottom BWR was used a reference power plant with MARK-I containment... 

Table 7.5 summarizes investment and operation costs as well as the costs for electricity generation of the coal fired reference power plant given in Table 7.1. The costs were defined and agreed in a joint effort by power plant and utility providers within the NanoGLOWA project.
