Referent power

Two scans are required to obtain an absorption spectrum. First, a blank reference scan is taken that characterizes the broadband light source. Then a scan with the sample in place is recorded. The ratio of the sample power spectrum to the reference power spectrum is the transmission spectrum. If the source has stable output, then a single reference scan can be used with many sample scans. [Pg.1166]

In the field of acoustics and signal transmission, signal power levels and signal amplitude levels (or field levels) are usually expressed as the decadic or the napierian logarithm of the ratio of the power P to a reference power P0, or of the field F to a reference field F0. Since power is often proportional to the square of the field or amplitude (when the field acts on equal impedances) it is convenient to define the power level and the field level to be equal in such a case. This is done by... [Pg.78]

P0 is a reference power, which should be specified. The factor is included in the definition to make LP LF. [Pg.79]

In the context of acoustics the power level is called the sound power level and given the symbol Lw, and the reference power P0 = 1 pW. [Pg.79]

The reader, even when reassured by the foreword, may still be reluctant, after reading Chapter 1, to forsake the ingrained notion that irreversible combustion is somehow relevant to equilibrium fuel cells. But here in ESS-RGN are fuel cells, with liquid reactants and products, and without oxygen Combustion cannot be relevant to the Regenesys system, as described below, and in the abb.com reference (Power Conversion Section, 2004) Electricity from the Store . [Pg.42]

Power spectrum level level of the power in a band one hertz wide referred to a given reference power (also power spectral density). [Pg.208]

In view of the small impact of the integration of the CAPRA core into the EFR nuclear power. supply system and of ttie measures taken to conserve a satisfactory load factor, it emerges that the investment and operational costs remain, at a first estimate, comparable to those of the EFR reference power plant. However, there is a significant impact of both the short in-pile fuel residence time (doubling of the S/A throughputs in the cycle) and of the more sophisticated S/A... [Pg.61]

For the measurements, the power meter photosensitive cell first evaluates the reference power, which is defined as the power received at the surface of the removable tray. The reference power is evaluated at 1000 W/m. The textile prototype is then installed, and the photosensitive cell is placed at the end of the lightguide, where the optical fibres are joined to form a single cable thanks to a connector (Fig. 21.22). [Pg.492]

Measurements are performed according to descriptions made in Sections 21.4.2.3 and 21.4.2.4. No antireflective coating has been applied on the prototypes because of time limitations. An aluminium foil was disposed at the rear face of the prototypes, onto the mounting bracket platform. Obtained results are presented in Rg. 21.23. For the lamp producing a reference power of 1000 W/m, it is noticeable that in the conditions of maximum exposure (angle fi = 90 degree), the prototype transmits a power output of about 1.4 W/m. ... [Pg.494]

DBm (decibels above 1 milliwatt) A logarithmic measure of power with respect to a reference power of one milliwatt. [Pg.2481]

Referent power This is the power possessed by charismatic individuals who inspire others to emulate them, usually by a process of identification. Their power resides in their personal characteristics and is not conferred from outside. Much social change is inspired by such people (for example Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement). Some management consultants and managers operate in this way. [Pg.109]

Sound power level (Ly, ) 10 times the logarithm (to the base 10) of the ratio of the sound power W radiated by a source to a reference power Wq. [Pg.733]

In the Onsager s linear constitutive theory k = 2, so gf Xj, X2) does not depend on x, also it is constant, which we choose in 1. In this case we receive the classical equation of the energy converters in which the efficacy does not depend on the force ratio, so the characteristic functions could be scaled by them without distortion. In general the reference power depends on the force ratio, so it is not suitable for the distortion-free scaling till separating the term which depends on the force ratio. In the proposed dissuasion the characteristic functions are... [Pg.301]

Abstract. In this paper we report on a recent study of the impact of cyberattacks on the resilience of complex indnstrial systems. We describe our approach to building a hybrid model consisting of both the system under study and an Adversary, and we demonstrate its nse on a complex case smdy - a reference power transmission network (NORDIC 32), enhanced with a detailed model of the compnter and commnnication system used for monitoring, protection and control. We studied the resihence of the modelled system under different scenarios i) a base-line scenario in which the modelled system operates in the presence of accidental failnres without cyber-attacks ii) scenarios in which cyber-attacks can occur. We discuss the usefulness of our findings and outline directions for further work. [Pg.316]

The system under study is shown in Fig. 1. The system model was developed by the FP7 EU project AFTER (http //www.after-project.eu/Layout/after/). It is based on a reference power transmission network, NORDIC 32, enhanced with an industrial distributed control system (IDCS) compliant with the international standard lEC... [Pg.318]

Some uncertainty margins exist in the fuel costs mainly because available references apply to plants operating in countries different from Italy and conditions vary from one plant to another. A full core for each of the three reactors of the reference power station has a cost that may be assumed to range between some 39 000 000 and some 51 000 000. [Pg.173]

The objective of the present work was to perform numerical analyses in which the effect of heat transfer from a degraded partially molten reactor core towards the upper intemals (upper shroud, standpipes, steam separator dryer) in a BWR reactor pressure vessel (RPV) would be accounted for, and the resultant failure and melting of these structures, on e composition of corium released to flie drywell following RPV failure. The calculations for this study were performed using the APRIL.MOD3 computer code, and the Peach Bottom BWR was used a reference power plant with MARK-I containment... [Pg.197]

Equation (2.5) shows the only thing that the solely course of the electric heat power Px t) in the measuring kettle versus time does not allow for the estimation of the thermal reaction power q t) It can be determined only when the course of a reference power, the baseline Pb(0> is known. The intermediate thermostat contributes essentially to its registration. [Pg.12]
