Reference Code Index

This index contains the names of over 30 000 authors cited in the 35 000 references which appear in Volumes 1-7. The reference codes employed throughout the text volumes have also been included in this index, so that the reader can proceed to the point on the text page where an author s work is cited, to the reference itself in the list at the end of each volume, or directly to the original publication. A complete list of the reference codes is given on the end papers for this volume. 

This would involve searching the files of abstracts for information relative to his subject (using the available codes, indexes, and machines), following up on pertinent references by locating the original material in the files and library, and supplementing these references by a search of other secondary literature sources.

Output from the program consists of the ASTM assigned serial numbers which may be used to look up the name of the compound, and the reference to the location of the spectrum. The data coded for any reference spectrum index may also be printed by entering its serial number. The program is a modified form of the one developed by Erley (1968). and inquiries should be made of the ASTM, 1916 Race Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19103. 

With the reference toughness curve approach, the RT m index first came into use as the reference nil-ductility temperature which is determined in accordance with the ASME Code, Section III, Subsection NB-2331. The reference toughness Km curve and the Ki curve for static crack initiation later came into use as part of Section XI where the Km curve was called the crack arrest Xia curve. Thus, the RTndt reference temperature index has become the key material parameter in determining the allowable (P-T) limits for plant operation and for evaluating RPV integrity as the result of extreme transients such as PTS. Note that several years ago, the concept of a different, directly measured fracture toughness Master Curve approach was accepted in the ASME Code based on the index parameter RTjq. This development is covered in detail in Chapter 10. 

The Toxic Gas Model Ordinance requires all Class 1 gases to be contained in a process tube enclosed in a secondary containment tube. Class 1 materials are those with a material hazard index of greater than or equal to 500,000, or that carry a US Department of Transportation classification of Poison A. (Note The Department of Transportation no longer uses the Poison A classification, and there is no direct replacement. Reference Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, parts 172 and 173 for guidance). 

Clearly this is an arena in which computer database technology has a major role to play. Perhaps the best developed such database is COMAR (an index Code of Reference Materials). This database tries to provide an up-to-date way to locate CRMs from all around the world. The Central Secretariat is presently housed at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), Berlin, Germany. A list of journal codes in alphabetical order, together with the journals to which they refer, is given immediately following these notes. Journal names are abbreviated throughout using the CASSI (Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index) system. 

In this section, in order to avoid a multiplicity of references, reference to the naturally occurring and biologically active azepines is in most cases made by means of a code, e.g. (M399), which refers to the reference number of that compound in the Merck index (B-76MI51600). 

All of the known simple plant isoquinolines have been entered into this index under their common, or trivial names. Originally, there was a linear structure code attached to the trivial name entry which allowed the reader to immediately deduce the chemical structure and to access the compound directly in the structural index. It became apparent that a single page reference would do as well. Each trivial name thus leads to the chemical structure, the plants that contain that compound, and appropriate literature references. 

The three-letter framework-type codes, recognized by the IUPAC Commission on Zeolite Nomenclature, have been used to organize the entries in this publication. The powder diffraction data and simulated patterns for the reference structures are listed alphabetically according to the respective framework type code. An index of material names, and associated three-letter codes, is included in the companion volume, the Atlas of Zeolite Framework Types (Baerlocher, McCusker and Olson (2007)). 

However a method based on the single-reference Supermatrix P defined above may devised which performs at 135 Mflops (if coded in CAL) The method requires only that all the density matrices be held in store, simultaneously, halving the store requirement of the natural algorithm.
