Liquid total

The perforated pipe distributor comprises a central feed sump and pipes that branch out from the sump to provide the liquid discharge. The level in the sump varies with liquid total flow rate, and the size of the lateral pipes and their perforations must be determined carefully to ensure that the ends of the pipes are not starved for hquid. The orifices are typically 4 to 6 mm diameter, and can be subject to phigging if foreign matter is present. The pipes must be leveled carefully, especially for large diameter columns. [Pg.1396]

The residue in the char collector and the liquid total in the condenser balloons were, respectively, taken to be the solid and the liquid yields based on the feeder charge. The gas yield was then found by taking the difference. The sum of the gas and liquid yield was defined as the total conversion. [Pg.612]

Spectrex PC 2000 Laser particle counter counts and sizes particles, from 0.5 to 100 pm in diameter, in both flowing and in-situ liquids. The PC 2000 uses near-forward scattering from a revolving laser beam (900 rpm.) for particle sizing and counting of in-situ and flowing liquids [115]. A He-Ne laser beam is focused to a small, well-defined volume (10 ml) within the liquid. Total particle count within the range 0.5 to 100 pm can be determined in less than a minute. Readout is in 1 pm steps from 0.5 to 17 pm and in five channel steps from 17 to 100 pm. Distribution may be presented on a number or a volume basis. A small vial attachment permits... [Pg.489]
