Purchasing specifications responsibility

With the exception of small compact units, cooling towers are purchased on competitive bids. The purchaser is responsible for providing all the specifications pertaining to the working conditions of the future installation. As a general rule, large units require more detailed specifications. [Pg.158]

Certificate of Compiiance A certificate of compfiance shall be included if specified. This certificate of compliance shall include the necessary evidence and assurance that the pump supplied is being supplied according to the requirements of this Standard and meets additional requirements identified in the purchaser s specification and purchase order. It shall be the purchaser s responsibility to select the manufacturer that is capable and qualified to supply the specified pumping equipment and that maintains the proper credentials for supplying the certificate of compliance. [Pg.30]

Unless there are overriding factors of specific technical experience on the part of the purchaser, the best split of responsibilities (which should be regarded as the default case) is that the purchaser is responsible for ... [Pg.142]

In a few entities, written procedures establish that safety professionals have a specified responsibility in capital expenditure proposal reviews, project design reviews, writing purchasing specifications for new equipment, and for signing off... [Pg.221]

Since the QA/QC laboratory is concerned with the quality of the firm s products, it can influence product costs and revenues (the cash flow associated with the products). It determines acceptance or rejection of raw materials and feedstocks and assesses their market value for the purchasing department. It frequently initiates the processing of claims against vendors providing raw materials which are below grade specification but are nevertheless used. The lab also may be responsible for process monitoring to determine process parameters which minimize the production of scrap or off-grade product. [Pg.68]

Plant operations personnel generally purchase cooling towers rather than construct them themselves. The philosophy behind this policy is that it makes available to operators a wealth of practical knowledge directly applicable in the field. The operator must specify the amount of water and the temperature range required to handle a specific set of process conditions. It is the fabricator s responsibility to propose a system that will meet the operator-furnished conditions for the 5% wet-bulb in the plant locality. This also means that the fan power with which the operation will be accomplished will be guaranteed. [Pg.125]

The Quality Assurance and Laboratory Inspection Section at DCLS consists of a staff of five, and is responsible for a number of functions in addition to its QA function. Staff members inspect and certify independent and municipal laboratories in Virginia that conduct analyses covered by EPA s Safe Drinking Water Act. In addition, the section is responsible for administering the safety program for the laboratory. Another function of the section is to evaluate a number of products for compliance with bid specifications in support of procurement activities for the Division of Purchases and Supply. Because of these... [Pg.28]

The detectors fitted to infrared spectrometers provide an electrical signal dependant on the incident luminous flux. Their sensitivity is estimated by the Noise Hquivaient Power (NEP). This is the radiation power required to obtain an electrical signal equal to the noise generated by the detector. The inverse of this quantity per unit of useful surface and per unit bandwidth is the specific detective capacity D, The choice of a detector involves consideration of its sensitivity in the spectral domain under study and the required response time as well as its purchase and operating costs (some are cooled to liquid nitrogen temperature). [Pg.220]

After analyzing all the factors that are involved in the quoted packaging equipment, the vendor quote is evaluated against the specification. Design features are listed and compared with other vendor equipment quotes. Two to four vendors are selected to receive and quote on the specification. The response to the specification and quoted cost then allows the equipment to be purchased according to the specification. [Pg.2654]

Setting the limits for determining whether the instrument is still within acceptable performance criteria should be entirely the responsibility of the end user. The vendor can assist in providing guidelines as to how the instrument should function on delivery, but the operational qualification is intended to determine whether the instrument is still operating to within the specifications which the user defined upon purchase. For example, if the intended analysis is quantitation of a main component in a drug formulation, then detector noise which affects sensitivity may be of lesser importance than injection precision. Conversely, where the instrument is used for impurity determination, especially where the reported data is (area/area) %, then sensitivity and therefore detector noise may be of more importance than injector precision. If limits are indicated by the manufacturer, then these may be used directly if appropriate, but the user should be aware that the decision is his or hers. The limits for an OQ/PV should not... [Pg.18]

Specifications for the product(s) to be prequalified should be drafted with input from the person responsible for purchasing, so that the product meets the requirements for the intended purpose. [Pg.232]
